Schafer actually makes a joke about that in the beginning of the video posted on the page. All publishers are either the kind who laugh at adventure games, or German. Something to that effect.

And it's not really asking for your money twice! Donating fifteen bucks or more gets you a copy of the game when it's released. That's pretty all right.

They don't have to pay twice, since the 15$ donation gets them a steam code to the game.

Wow, I hate so many people in this thread. Even if you aren't going to donate please don't be a dick about the situation. Double Fine and Tim Schafer are amazing developers who love games dearly. Shitting on them and this great project to avoid publisher bullshit and beaurocracy just makes you an asshole. And really? $400K is a lot of money for a game? Do you people have any concept of currency or development budgets at all? That's insanely low for any game. Most DS games cost more than that for heaven's sake. I'm so happy most of the gaming community has more of a soul than you people and the funding is going well. These people are the heart and soul of gaming and deserve your respect if nothing else. Can't wait for the final product, and I'd donate more if I had it.

not a massive fan of the genre, but I love the concept and I have money sittin' around so I'll help out the cause for a free game down the road, just gotta figure out how much, the poster does sound kinda awesome, wish they had a design up.
