First it was a tablet now it's a tv,what's next?
I think it will be just be a regular console launching with kinect 2 day one.
It also will not be very powerful with a big focus on the casual market.

Probably the main reason I doubt this is because David Perry suggested it. Any credit I gave him and Shiny for Earthworm Jim was wiped clean twofold with Enter the Matrix.
Seriously though, Microsoft making a TV? That would limit their audience to a ridiculous degree. A "CloudBox" service through a computer would work for any TV and makes far more sense.
I don't think Microsoft will take that much of a chance. It seems they are kind of going the route of full on Multimedia experiences but I don't think they will it this far, yet. The Next-Box I believe will be a console but it may include some of these things.

Oh no! D: Luckily I call it the Next-Box!
Jeez. What's gonna happen when your whole fucking TV RRODs?
Whoever thinks up crazy ideas like that has far too much free time on his/her hands imo.

A more simplified media hub, yes.... a TV? No.
You need to take into account what that actually entails:
1. microsofts would need to expect everyone to replace their current tv with this new device. Not happening. TV's are very expensive, long term investments. People buy them with the intention of them lasting years. Their not about throw that away for one that can play games, if they're interested in games then they already have a console.
2. The xbox Tv would have to be superior to whatever people have currently. Tvs come in all different sizes and different specs(resolution, contrast, brightness, sound, hertz), it would be insane for microsoft to produce enough SKU to match everyones need and outcompete what they currently have.
3. In a day and age where the majority of households have a separate TV in each room, what happens if someone wants to play a game in their room as opposed to the living area?
The suggestion is absurd and the reasoning lacks logic. Consoles are not threatened by TV, cloud gaming is not gonna be plausible on a widespread basis for at least another 8-10 years. As for the media hub, its a largely redundant concept which i think Microsoft and TV manufactures will soon understand. The only media appropriate for tv is television, film and gaming. Their essentially trying to be what a laptop/computer is, unfortunately everyone has a laptop and together with the smartphones, they will eternally be the ideal place for music, social media and general browsing. What is the point of using a TV to go on twitter, facebook or to read a news article??
While I could see Microsoft switching from a business model of losing a lot of money on every system sold to a system where they sell their systems to users at a break even point or small profit and take a massive loss to get them bundled with TVs, I couldn't see Microsoft producing a TV (or a service that ran on a TV).
