Forums - PC - Looking at current state of console to PC ports, was Resident Evil 4 PC really that bad?

I loaded it on my tablet few weeks ago and I am not sure why everyone hated this port(myself included).

I mean, yes its controller only with limited to none visual options adjustments...but hey, it runs butter smooth in 720p on AMD C50 tablet running Windows 8 beta, and the game is as fun as ever. Way more fun than RE5 which lets you adjust all kinds of PC settings and works with mouse.keyboard.

If anything, looking at a lot of the recent straight console to PC ports I've played, like Dead Rising 2, Transformers:War for cybetron, Singularity and FEAR 3...RE4 was ahead of its time.  Pretty much every console port now has the same limited tweaking approach...

Around the Network

People only hated RE4 PC because it was a bad PS2 port. And no mouse support. People would have liked it better if it was a port of the GameCube version (which used a wider color pallet and had twice the polygons for models).

Shit is not made more pleasant by the presence of dysentery. That's really all I have to say about that.
