I would not say doomed yet . but as far as taking out the 3DS thats just not happening.

There are 3 main reasons why I say that
1-Nintendo is well known for their handhelds thats their best strength right now. even when Wii did well .
2 -Sony took to long. they waited and like everyone else who waited for the shoe to drop . they will pay the big price because unlike console where you could catch up from behind handhelds no one has ever done that ever including sony before
3 games -- the 3DS or Nintendo as a whole is good at getting games that are intended for handheld not just strieght ports of console games they can really get somthing to work on a handheld that would not neccesary see much attention on console- for example pokemon tetris steel diver nintendog's brain age etc .
they got that given talent . that the other one trying does not seam to get a hold on ,

sure vita has exclusives, But they could do as good if not better on their home console and it does not help that the majority of vita games may very well be home console games as well cause even the ds has a hard time with this department when it comes to games like --goldeneye call of duty . wwe .
they just don't sell as good as they do on their home console counterparts

point is . Vita is going to need somthing more then just ports of mortal kombat call of duty or other games that already on vitas prodecessor or 3ds at launch .

At least NIS is enjoying the nice PSV sales for Disgaea 3, so it isn't doom and gloom for everyone.

Vita is also launching during tax return season in the US. For example I just did mine today and I will get the money deposited into my account on Feb. 21st. Lots of impulse buys around this time. Well, for me anyways.

Haha it's like we're the same person!
How do you know when you get your return??

Direct Deposit. I have never had to wait more than 2 weeks to get my federal return deposited. Now State, that's a different story.

Yeah I just checked and it said estimated date was valentine's day! Woot!

I also found out that I overpaid New York State by over $1,600 in taxes so they owe me back that and then some, so together with my Federal I am looking at > $8k coming my way within the next few weeks.

To think some people thought $250 would be too steep... Ha, not during TAX TIME!!!

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

It must be. The internet said so. Empirical evidence has proven it right in every instance.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Persona 4, Unnannounced new atlus game, Dragon's crown, Monster Hunter, Little Busters (wish they would bring this to the states), new kojima game, FFX and Zone of Enders collection = Vita is going to simply explode in Japan.

Still really really early!

I too recently got my tax return back and used some of the proceeds to pre-order a Vita (fully paid).  The cool thing is I was at Bestbuy this past Saturday, and the sales guy had a vita hanging around his neck.  At first I though it was a paper cutout, but then he turned it on and I was like hmmm, real deal.  So he let me use it for about 2 minutes and, just like every review i have seen, its so light in your hand, kinda crazy.  Even though I didnt pre order from there, he did an excellent job selling the system on its strengts (weight, screen, entertainment center, i.e. netflix) gave a good description of the launch games and got the price out early to make sure it wasnt the last thing mentioned.  Pretty clever if you ask me.

A.) I hope he took it off before handing it to you.

B.) If not, I hope the lace it was strapped to was long.

I could just imagine trying something out while having to be face to face like that, enduring what has the potential to be wicked breath.

Ewwww....

Monster Hunter, last time I checked, has yet to be announced officially. The Atlus game could be anything. Same with Kojima game. The FF is a remake and so will likely have less than 100k opening and not push HW. The other games will sell around 150k-250k LT in Japan also, and not push hardware really. The Vita doesn't have anything that could reach a mil in Japan, or sustain sales for a period of time, or push Hardware (aside from the unofficial MH.) 3DS already has 3, with another couple in the pipeline (MH4 definitely, maybe Pokemon). Sony need to up their game in this department.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

surely it is too expensive for the uk where i am,do you have to buy memory to play a game, that can't be right can it

it looks quite good to me in videos i have seen of people using it,the life of the vita is going to be quite interesting,it doesn't have the nintendo games to push it,it will have the psn downloads and media,it could be a disaster or sell like the psp,in the end they better get some games on it that people want in all regions

                                                                                                                                        Above & Beyond

i just got 1 question. where gods name have you been?

i also accidently voted yes.

Vita is far from dead, not that it matters much to me. i want 1, i'm going to get one, and i'm going to enjoy all the games that comes to it, that you can't possibly find on any other system.
