Forums - Sony - Can I buy Skyrim yet?

Is the current version of Skyrim fixed enough to warrant a buy? I'm hearing some people say it still has problems later on in the game and was wondering if the ps3 version is ready.

it will never be fixed

Actually from what I heard its pretty stable now. Still I would recommend the PC version over the console one. I have seen both of them side-by-side, and there is no competition. The PC version is by far the superior one... and that was before patch 1.4 was released. Im not a huge TeS fan, but If Il ever buy one, and If il ever have a decent rig ( and wont be working on a laptop anymore) it will be the PC version. Still its exam period, and I dont want to destroy my chances to finish them :P

Yeah, same here m8 :P Anyways, if you are into the game IMO buy it, and if you can wait untill years end, maybe you will get the GOTY edition, at a lower price and much better state Either way, you will probably have fun :D

Multi MB save issue has not been fixed, it has been moved from the previous 6 MB threshold to 11 - 12 MB threshold now. That means that usually the symptoms only start appearing after 100+ hours of gaming (depending on how much you explored the game, how many items you have stored, etc.). After the game becomes "cluttered" in random point data stored in the save file, it becomes slower to read thus the lag.

It's a memory issue that has not and will not be adressed for the PS3 version unfortunately (Fallout New Vegas suffered from a similar bug too), but recent patches have made sure that you can at least get a full playthrough decently.

If that is the case, that is unacceptable. Chances are if its a good RPG I will pour a hundred hours into it like any good rpg before it. How are you sure they will not eventually fix this problem?

No dude don't buy Skyrim on PS3, me and my brother put more then 100 hours into the game and we got the platinum trophy for it. Our savefile was bigger then 16MB.

Whenever there was fighting going on my fps dropped literally below 1fps. Huge framerate problems, it takes forever to load and save with such a big savefile.

I got the Skyrim PC version, no I didnt pay for it, it was my right to get a playable version of this game. So now I play this game on 1080p @ Ultra on my 50" tv via my htpc.

Does this issue also occur in the 360 version? I have it for ps3 (but haven't played it much yet) but I also own a 360 so...

Mostly because it's a memory leak problem, thus they can only remend it as they go along but never fix it entirely (same happened with New Vegas). With patch 1.4, it seems some memory optimization has been issued (save files are much smaller, mine went from 21 MB to 13 MB on PC), but the memory leak problem for the PS3 is still there ( http://news.softpedia.com/news/Skyrim-Patch-1-4-Gets-New-Details-and-Changelog-Release-Date-Still-Unknown-247737.shtml ).

@Turkish - Can't disagree with you there. It's Bethesda's fault for not adressing an issue they've been having on every game they release for the PS3 using the Gamebryo engine, so you have every right to get a playable version by any means necessary after having been "cheated" on a faulty one.
