Forums - Microsoft - "Mass Effect 3 is Better With Kinect" Say Some People

after the test, yeah Kinect voice command is pretty awesome
this thing even understand my accent every time

They should change it from "Better with Kinect" to "Unnecessarily crippled without Kinect".

Whilst a lot of the voice commands would be wasted with my play style (I LIKE to be able to pause the action and carefully plan my teams attacks - and it's critical when you play on the hardest difficulty), I would still enjoy some of the options such as telling my team to take cover or to attack my target.

At the end of the day though, there is NO reason why this voice command feature needs to be limited to Kinect. It could work on PC and it could work on PS3 - this is nothing more than a money making effort for MS and that's what turns me off it the most.

FWIW, I already have Kinect (bought second hand) but I'm buying ME3 for PS3.

Buttons!

I will try KINECT with ME3 for sure because I am satisfied what KINECT did in HALO 1 Remake and I trust BIOWARE.

well, seems some people still keep "trying"

Do people know why most developers use middleware? Because it's much easier and cheaper to pay for parts of code, than to develop entirely by themselves. Kinect provides an easy and cheap way to do the voice recognition, so why they wouldn't use it? If Sony provided middleware for eyetoy, I'm sure that Bioware would have included Eyetoy voice recognition, but as Sony don't provide it, Bioware don't include it. It's as easy as that.

It seems that some gamers haven't learned anything in this generation. As the development is longer and costlier, developers have to rely more on third party middleware to make their games, that's why you see tons of logos when you load a game.

Finally got time to try it with Kinect. All I can tell you is that it works. In fact, voice commands responds better than motion in a lot of games. It even works very well in french. Dialogues are a bit weird though, I still prefer to use buttons but maybe with the full game I might get used to it. You have to learn the words first of course but most of the time I use the same ability so they are learned very fast.

I hope more and more games will use this feature as it works really great. I don't understand why so many refuse to acknowledge this feature it a great addition I still have to get Halo AN. Games that will have this feature will get my attention even more than before.

@JesseDeya - didn't you play ME on 360? I can't wait to complete the trilogy. Might get a new character all the way from the beggining.
