The thing is, the solutions are not difficult, it's just the politicians don't want to let go of power. This seems to be the problem, world wide.

It is a problem worldwide because power/politics usually show a shitty side of human nature.

No it's a problem because people are idiots who vote for people who promise the most and not for those with realistic programe.

I don't think it's necessarily fair to blame the voters. At the end of the day, they are given the illusion of choice, when they don't really have any. How can you vote for freedom and prosperity when your choices are Obama and McCain? You could argue that they had a choice in Paul, but there was near zero media coverage of him. Even now, all media coverage is twisted to be as negative as possible.

The "free" media (ie - the WWW) is changing this, but it's a gradual change, and the old media outlets still have a lot of influence there. But if you look at the effect that the free media has had on Paul between this and last election, you can see that its power is rapidly growing. Even in South Carolina, where Paul came in fourth with 13%... that's still a significant increase on his 3% win just four years ago.

How can that be? Spain invested so much money on creating Green Jobs ...

You mean the government can't simply spend money and magically make something economically viable?

incase people are still confused... socialism doesnt work.

America wake up

Yep. That is why Nordic countries and Germans are so fucked with their huge unemployement figures and rising bond yields. Oh wait...

I dont think thats what I would call socialism, but anyway, either liberalism or socialism cant be proven "wrong" by showing examples where things ended up in disaster, the way institutions work is accidental compared to the real substance or principles behind either socialism(realization of the community) or liberalism(personal realization respecting the laws).

So yeah, what he said was not correct or at least not proven.

Greece is ATM at 21% (official) and still rapidly rising. And if the new austerity measures (economy killers I say) come through today, woohoo, we'll be no.1

Some of the Papademos cabinet resigned over the proposals, didn't they? It's safe to say the Greeks are determined to resist austerity

Dunno why you'd think that.  Most of the "austerity" measures that were voted on today weren't really austerity measures but liberalization of labor laws meant to decrease unemployment.

Reduction of minium wage sucks sure, but it will only decrease unemployment.

You think that's an austerity measure that raises unemployment... try not being able to pay anyones salary.

Overspending -> Deep recession -> Unemployement.

Spain (along with a bunch of other countries) spent beyond their means and chickens are coming home to roost. I hope that the Eurocrisis will have peaked once this Greek austerity law is passed, if so this figure should come down as confidence in the economy increases.
