I am not sure anybody was expecting Nokia's market share to be higher rather to stop hemoraging. As for HDDVD who was the more pitiful Sony with its back door introduction of Blu Ray and its manipulation of the movies houses or Microsoft.

I still say to this day HDDVD was the best choice for the consumer it was cheaper and had double sided discs HDVDDVD and was ready.

Yeah because you know what´s best for Microsoft, thats why they have profits of bilions every quarter.

Not at all. Nokia has been making "smartphones" for some time now, but most of them haven't been very good, and it's been selling these across the world.

Most of the people with these phones have therefore been switching to other manufacturers for a while now, as Nokia hasn't really had anything to keep these consumers with them. Nokia is of course hoping the Lumia series can turn that around, but they weren't launched until the middle of Q4 2011 and even then, only in a few countries in Europe, where Nokia sells phones around the world!

Nokia loosing marketshare in Q4 2011 shouldn't surprise anyone. What's going to be interesting is what happens in 2012, with the Lumias coming out in more markets and the lineup starts to grow as well.

Clean. I haven't heard of any problems with malware on WP7 at all, so WP7 should be the safer platform.

Its pretty obivious you know nothing about business so I wont even bother replying any further.

Tmobile USA, Walmart, and other locations started selling Lumia 710 in January and with already aggressive pricing on the phone only a month into its release (was retailing for 49.99, now free at walmart and microsoft store) , tells me that the phone is having a hard time moving, even at a dumbphone prices.  We will see with nokia's Q1.  The problem is that you can't leave a market, one as competitive as cell phones, come back (even with MS as a partner) and expect to light the world on fire.  Most people have invested heavy into their phone ecosystem and it takes a long while to break it.

Which is completely true, although judging worldwide performance of the 710 based on the US, where Nokia isn't a very big player, is probably inaccurate to say the least. I don't think Nokia was expecting to light the US on fire, they have a long way to go before they can get some good grip in that market after all, and WP7 isn't magically going to change that, even if it still helps.

Wow, the Nokia Nokia/msft enthusiasm just died a bit, especially after seeing how Matt gives away free 360s with a phone purchase. One thing thing is for sure, this money train wont roll forever
