One slip will be all it takes to make this series go into a fall , not a free fall to death but a fall significant enough to lose popularity just look at duke nukem forever and perfect dark zero

Honestly, probably not for awhile. Next year's release will prolly break MW3's 1st week numbers just by the install base alone, and then the year after that (or possibly 2 years) we'll have the first "next-gen" COD, and you know that's gonna sell like gangbusters because it will be the first COD in a long time with an all new engine designed to take advantage of next-gen hardware, and then the cycle will just continue for the next few years just like it has this generation with annual "sequels" that are nothing more than full-priced expansion packs.

Uhhh, those weren't slips, those were bungie jumps without a cord down the Grand Canyon.

Me prediction is that Black Ops2 this November will probably beat the first week of MW3, but wont sell as much in lifetime.

2013, Activision will start a new ''IP'' by that I mean it wont be modern warfare4 or black ops 3, it will be called ''Call of Duty: something new'', it will also have great sales, but not as much as black ops 2 because will get bored out of that franchise and will realise its just a cash grab. Sill millions of brainless CoD zombie fans will buy it tho.

2014, Black Ops 3, designed natively for Next gen, with next gen having a wayyy smaller install base, it wont sell nearly as much, and after that it wont be able to pick up the crazy sales it had in the past. It may still be released on old gen, but ppl with old gen will be more of ''casual players'' that if they dont care about upgrading their system most of them wont care about ''upgrading'' their CoD version.

2015, the 2013's new IP 2. Will have good sales but nothing crazy. The days of having millions of CoD zombie fans waiting outside for hours for midnight launch will be over.

What?! I can't hear you over all this awsome! - Pyrrhon (Kid Icarus:Uprising)

Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow...FIRE! - Wonder-Red (The Wonderful101)

Lots of people said pokemon was going to be just a fad. I'm not saying call of duty will follow the same path. But I honestly have no idea, and I'm not going to speculate.

A lot of love for Black Ops on here it seems. I really didn't like the multiplayer of BO at all compared to MW2 and right now quite enjoying MW3. I can't comment much about MW1 as i got into multiplayer with the second outing but did quite enjoy the single player of 1st. Not going to be picking up Black Ops 2, hated some of the choices they made in multiplayer, not much into zombies. Somehow black ops was a really easy game to play compared to others or maybe i just got better.

Happy gaming :)

I would say 2013 once all next-gen consoles are released.
It will fall for a year or two, then will start breaking records again once all the consoles are well established.

What kind of comparison is that?

None of those games ever broke sales records.

Why aren't you picking up Black Ops 2? They haven't released any details at all about the game yet. We don't even know if there will be a Black Ops 2.

Not soon enough I feel.
