i use these sites as much as the next guy, but whats the problem people really have with these going down? sure it makes it inconvenient for people like me to get stuff but its not like these sites were in the right

Now. Now. Just because you use it for questionable stuff does not make the next guy the same.

fair enough

Everyday I'm hustlin'.

Wii and DS owner.

fileserve is now gone as well, voluntarily removing their capability like FileSonic did. Mediafire and DepositFile seem to be up. Everyone's freaking out

If the megaupload takedown wasn't an investigation months in the making, i'd call it a conspiracy, where the day after Pipa and Sopa are shelved, a chain reaction begins to unravel the major file-sharing sites

Of course, there are going to be endless legal troubles for the US Government in regards to how they took out MegaUpload. Apparently the users who have uploaded legitimate content have lost access to it, and international lawsuits are brewing to have that content released. It's really going to open up a new frontier in legal disputes

also there is now this: http://anonyupload.com/

edit: oh yeah, VideoBB is gone. The anime streaming sites are getting reamed in this.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It would be funny if the entire world just block US ip's. Similar to the SOPA/PIPA blackout, that'll get people to get off their asses and complain.

Or this simply is just a trade for shelving SOPA/PIPA. All that bride money has to be repaid one way or another.

I'm just wondering if all these sites are effectively shutting themselves down, or if they're not going effectively chicken out of chickening out, because no-one is going to use these sites for "personal file storage." I have google docs for that, as well as external harddrives and all sorts of stuff. More mainstream sites will dominate that business, so these sites are effectively going to shut down

I wonder if they're waiting for some lawyers to figure out how they can not do whatever exactly entitled the Feds to shut down Megaupload

Actually I think MegaUpload was asking for it when they started to broadcast copyrighted material with out having the right to on their video service. So it wouldn't really take a months in the making investigation. And right now the rest of the file services are in paranoia mode.

Everyone who is just using these sites to get free shit you're supposed to pay for should be fined and probably have their internet access suspended or permanently removed.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

For the rest of us that use these cloud services legitimately, who's going to compensate us? Yeah...

Oh god, I feel terrible. Let me go axe my router and stick a fork into the AT&T box outside of my house.
