Moderation on here used to be ridiculoiusly precious and utterly humourless.  We almost got to the point were games and consoles were deemed more important that human beings and their feelings...

I mean... seriously... how can someone be offended by someone else taking a swipe at a game or console? 

Normally I would agree with you, but come on. His post was clearly provocation.

I don't see anything remotely wrong with his comment, he's more or less bang on target.

I think we are talking about different things. This tread is about shipment, right?

You are focus on the retail sales meaning which console was the most purchased console by consumers in 2011.

I am focus on the shipment figures meaning which manufacturer sold the most consoles in 2011.

And when the manufacturer makes their forecast, their projection is ALWAYS shipment. That is why I really think shipment figure is more important indication than retail sales for a manufacturer.

I think I'm a bit lost here - you wanted to know how will we know if X360 is overshipped ? So I'm telling you that typically Nintendo publishes sales for 3 major territories which leaves only Africa, Eastern Europe, rest of America , Asia with no data to benchmark against. Therefore we will have quite accurate number of sold to consumer to compare with official shipment data.

It actually reflects the reality that the majority of gamers on gaming forums all across the internet have a PS3 bias. 

It bleeds Sony propaganda but what ya gonna do thats the mindset of most people here. Sigh....

The Entertainment & Devices Division posted revenue of $4.24 billion, an increase of 15% from the prior period. The Xbox 360 installed base now totals approximately 66 million consoles and 18 million Kinect sensors. Xbox LIVE now has 40 million members worldwide, an increase of 33% from the prior year period.

Net income was $6.62 billion, or 78 cents a share, compared with $6.63 billion, or 77 cents, a year earlier, Microsoft said today in a statement. Sales rose to $20.9 billion, matching estimates. Analysts had predicted 76 cents in profit on average, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
