Firstly, animes nowadays are rendered from 3D models anyway. The key is to make them look as "traditional" as possible with copious amounts of cel-shading and such. And it works out, as they mesh with the backgrounds and effects seamlessly.
Secondly, it's ufotable. After watching Fate/Zero try Kara no Kyoukai - these were movies so they got a larger budget "per unit,", so they too look stunning.
