You mean this price? http://www.amazon.ca/Yu-Hakusho-Ghost-Files-Classics/dp/B00576U9AS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1366394433&sr=8-4&keywords=Yu+Yu+Hakusho

Ah, didn't realize you were from Canada. My bad. That definitely changes things I'm sure.

I know :(.  Anime's normally twice as expensive than down in the U.S.  Plus with the way anime's become so niche, I doubt it sells more there than here.  Hell anime isn't even at Futureshop, Best Buy or Walmart anymore (Walmart was just recently clearing anime and old cartoons.)

Thank you.  Unfortunately none of those are anything like the two examples I gave.  Anyone else?

hmm let me give this a try

Fruits Baskter

Samurai Champloo (more action tho)

Toradora

Last Exile

Baccano

Thanks!  Last Exile seems pretty good.  I've watched the first episode and plan on getting into it soon.  Also, Samurai Champloo is one of my favorite samurai shows of all time, so well done.

Oh yes, I'm a definitely a fan of several Ghibli films.  Ponyo, Nausicaa, and Mononoke are my current favorites.

Toradora is really great. You should try that, Shape. If you like anime with good music (like Kids on the Slope) I also recommend Cowboy Bebop, if you haven't seen it already.

I just watched Kids on the Slope a few weeks ago. First anime I've watched in many months.

Cowboy Bebop is pretty good, though I have not seen the movie.  What did you think of Kids on the Slope?

You haven't seen Cowboy Bebop the Movie! It even came out in American Theaters when I was a Teenager.

Start watching Hataraku Mao sama AND Shingeki No Kyojin! One has 3 episodes out and the other has 2...would be more fun to have even more ppl watching them so we can discuss :D

Hmm are they released in HD? :O

I might do it, but I hate waiting for episodes, especially when we're talking about mere 20 minutes per week ;/

Nothing out of these, then? "Out of Fate/Zero Season 2, Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2nd gig, NANA, Katanagatari, Steins;Gate, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai (season 2) and Kara no Kyoukai...what should I start first?"

Oh and here's my animelist if anyone's interested. I have a lot of anime that I've tagged with "Plan-to-watch" ;o. http://myanimelist.net/animelist/PeZuS

If you have access to Kara no Kyoukai then watch it.  It's bloody amazing.  Some of the best production values to ever grace the anime medium.  Incredible animation, amazing music, deep, twisty, psychological plot, and an awesome main character.  This is Type Moon at its best.  Anyone looking for something complex and mature should try to find it.

Steins;Gate is also very good.  It has some complex ideas incorporated into its plot and can get quite dark, though it does have some comedy early.  It's a gripping ride that will keep you watching, once it gets going.  All the conspiracy and time-paradox stuff is really interesting.

NANA is a very good drama.  It's about growing into adults and all the mistakes that occur during that transition.  Even though the main characters seem to be immature at times, the drama itself is as mature as you'll find in anime, as it deals with a lot of hard consequences.  Things change, people screw up badly, and life goes on.

Yep, I have Kara no Kyoukai good and ready :D. I think I might just watch that next then. Is the best order to watch it in from 1 to 7?

I will certainly watch the others eventually too. Sound good.

Thanks

That's the order I went with.  Even if a series is released "out of order", I still watch it that way, such as with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, as I think it makes things more interesting.  Kara no Kyoukai does bounce around a bit, and you'll be slightly confused now and then, but that serves to keep you engaged.

If you want a couple more suggestions, then try Welcome to the NHK or Skip Beat.  Welcome to the NHK is one of the best television series ever made, period.  It deals with social and psychological problems like paranoia, depression, suicide, various addictions, and the whole downward spiral of being a NEET, but it's also absolutely and completely hilarous.  The only things I can compare it to are M.A.S.H. or the Catch-22 novel, where you'll be laughing out loud one minute and feeling your heart break the next.

Skip Beat is a bit on the shoujo side, as it's about a girl who works her fingers to the bone supporting her boyfriend, who then dumps her when he gets his break in show business.  It's really inspiring, though, as she never quits even when everyone and everything are trying to hold her down.  She goes into show business herself, as a way to get back at her ex, which leads to her learning more about herself and her own dreams, which she had always repressed for the sake of the other people in her life.

You should try

Sword Arts Online-some people are pretty divided on this one, I personally enjoyed it

Macross Frontier+Movies-really nice soundtrack and series is good too. You can just watch the two movies though, they cover the whole story and have better animation then series.

Blood+-fantastic, one of my favorites

Mahou Shoujou Madoka-don't let the art fool you, it gets really good

Umineko no Naku Koro ni-good horror and mystery

I have Sword Art on my radar for sure. I've seen Madoka already and liked it.

Is Umineko no Naku Koro ni related to Higurashi no Naku Koro ni? :o

I will add Macross Frontier (Movies) to my to-watch list.

Blood+ is 50 episodes :O

Umineko seems to be a part of the same universe, but there isn't a direct connection as far as I can remember. If you like higurashi, you'll like this. Ya blood+ is long, but quite good. Blood the last vampire is a good movie too(nothing really to do with the series though) but stay away from blood c. It's a disgrace to the blood series. I would also recommend card captor Sakura, xxxholic, and Tsubasa chronicles. There are connections in all three series along with some other works by clamp. Out of the 3 I listed, I would recommend Tsubasa the most though.

It was great, but too short . Or perhaps it was the perfect length, I dunno. I often like animes with some good drama and romance and if you add good music to that you've got something great going.

It was too short.

Must see.
