Right now we know 360 has shipped about 66.5 million and they have a standard of keeping about 1million in supply chain so sales should be between 65 to 65.5.

I heard 66M, do you have a link for 66.5M? And that standard is your BS.

No but your reply is BS.  I'm using the 66.5 as the middle of the road between 66 and 67 as MS has stated it was over 66.  I understand that could be 66.1 hence the 65 to 65.5 actual based sold based upon "the standard" that MS has consistantly kept a 1 to 1.5 million supply chain.  You don't have to like it (which I have no idea why you wouldn't), but there it is.

Your standard is BS like he said.

2006: 2.4 million on shelves
2007: 2.0 million on shelves
2008: 1.8 million on shelves
2009: 1.8 million on shelves
2010: 0.6 million on shelves

The last year is an exception due supply issues.

why are people still debating about who won the year? its damn obvious whats happened. microsoft over estimated and shipped way too many consoles. they beat sony in shipments but ps3 obviously sold more to consumers. this is even more true after recent NPD.

I'm pretty sure reality is the opposite of what you just said.

sure? sure sure? wow... until now, no one was sure... but you are... you r the man! LOL

fyi - no one is sure. there is no prof. there is no way MS can know what sony or nintendo sold, for sure... it was bold for SB to do that statement, and for is sake, i hope he is right. but is yet to be proved by irrefutable evidence. until then... no sure, free of charge, for everyone...

When a CEO of a company comes out on a big stage like CES and state something like "We sold the best in 2011", you can be pretty sure the people that reported that number made sure that it was correct. Making a fool of your CEO would be something that probably get you fired and Steve would not want to make such a statement, then get ripped if it was incorrect.

If someone believes that Sony would not dispute that claim if they had the numbers you are deluding yourself. There is no way Sony or Nintendo would let MS just get away with claiming first place.

Yeah, because that would be the first time a CEO make himself look like an ass (especially Balmer). Oh wait...

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

Whoa, that was a lot to read.

I do have a few points to add. First, I can't believe people are trying to downplay NPD numbers, as if they aren't accurate. It is true that NPD estimates a portion of its numbers, however, with the re-addition of Wal-mart's sales data, it is only a very small portion. Not enough for it to be that incredibly far off. This is why ALL of the big 3 state their numbers as fact each month.

And yes, it is possible for the PS3 to be overtracked in EU, and thus being down YOY there even more than previously thought. However, considering this is usually a very strong region for Sony, it would most likely mean the 360 is either flat this year or down, as well. I just can't see the 360 being massively up in a region where usually it just sells decent. It would be like me expecting the PS3 to be massively up and tying/outselling the 360 in the US if the roles were reversed (NPD for EU instead of US, Sony announced a large shipment gap). As someone else stated, Nintendo will probably release GFK's EU numbers in their financials, which will make the EU picture more clear.

Nice to know I at least got one prediction right, so far. I don't even remember what thread it was, but I said that because of the early Thursday Black Friday sales that went on til Sat/Sun, it was likely people would shift their holiday shopping to those days, decreasing the sales of the 2 weeks before Christmas (usually the largest selling weeks). Of course, I didn't expect it to be down quite that much.

Just wanted to leave something extra here to what, for me anyway, points to MS stuffing/retailers buying more than needed.  Just a little chart I've put together after doing a quick check at online retailers and seeing if they had any holiday bundles still in stock.  To be fair, I have also checked for the PS3.

Updated: Changed the 160GB Holiday Bundle (it was actually only a Black Friday deal) to the Harry Potter Bundle.  Though, I doubt it sold extremely well, as it only came with a movie.

sigh, they just keep restock the holiday bundle, not "still in stock",like the 250GB holiday bundle in amazon was only 1 in stock 2 hours ago(so you said no stock in your list),then they restocked to 19 left right now

and there is no PS3 holiday bundle, that's BF bundle

Seems like they overshipped... By a lot.

This is also what I think, they overestimated the demand, especially when everybody here was expecting 360 to sell more then 2.5 million for december(some even went as high as 3.5 million lol).

Lostplanet22 said:
I go with MS has overshipped X360's for the simple reason to stay second in this generation so long as possible because sony passing them will create a negative backslash.

Sure I want to believe that X360 did better in whole of europe but it is coming from the same guys/girls who said how incredible the numbers are going to be in USA and who tried very hard to make people who dare to talk about adjustments look like a fool.

Never put your heart in Vgchartz numbers...

Look like a fool? They banned me simply for saying: "waiting for adjustments", reason was: attacking the site

oh and one thing they may not know is if a console bundle not normally restock anymore, they will not show it in squares, that's why Uncharted 3 PS3/MW3 360 bundle still there
