Forums - Microsoft - Kinect Install Base

With microsoft stating kinect stating 66 million x360 sold and 18mill kinects sold, the percentage is now over 25%.   That's definitely awesome to me.  If you were a developer would that intice you to develop for it or would you wait until it reaches 40 or 50 percent or just a hard number like 25 million?

Consider a few of the more anticipated kinect games (haunt, diabolical pitch, project draco, "alan wake - jk lol wishful thinking on that one") are all going to XBLA.  They could easily make small episodic games to test the water especially considering the low level of retail sells.

I would think about the attach ratio for kinect games as well. Does anyone know what it is??

It's in my table: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4346273
Obviously using our VGC numbers, so could change when there are adjustments.

OT: I think it's possible that a game like Project Draco could become a full game just like The Gunstringer for example.

It is an interesting question. I wonder why developers waited this much to bring out bigger games on the Kinect. Now that the installbase is there, I cant wait to see how some games turn out :D Also, is THQs big-budget game still coming or was it canceled?

1.37:1 right now. tbh this should be higher imo. i think sequel numbers dc2 and ks2 should be higher. and people that started on ks2 should grab ks1. same with fitness evolved. fe2012 is pretty kick ass.

would 2:1 be enough tho? what would a good attachment rate be for kinect? the thing is most people hear other talk about kinect games being crappy without playing it themselves. rise of nightmares is a good examples. most people that play it like it. hopefully the rise of nightmares demo helps to push sells. once you get the hang of the controls is not that bad.

maybe kinect games retail should be cheaper

Thanks :D Now this one is exciting, THQ can either ruin a franchise entirely ( Red Faction, MX vs. ATV) or make miracles ( Saints Raw, Darksiders). It should be a big budget game, so Im hoping for the best here :D Maybe it will have something to do with the universe they are creating with Guilermo Del Toro Now that would be badass :D

I don't understand why they don't use props when playing. I understand the whole "you are the controller" thing but think about it. I don't want to play Forza without grabbing a steering wheel, and holding my hands out in front of me is just lame. However, if I played a star wars game that came with a lightsaber I could actually swing, that would be pretty cool. Or physically holding a prop gun, a baseball bat, or a real golf club works as well. Yes it's similar to the Wii, but it works, and we wouldn't need to attach the controller to the object. We could use a real bat or club that feels heavy in our hands. Those sort of things would open up a whole slew of new games that would appeal to more than just the "casual" gamer.

Depends on how hard it is to develop for (seems easy from everything I've seen) and then 18 mill is enough to sell to, that's no issue, plus it's growing rapidly. Depends on how good you want the game to be and how much time you're willing to put into it. Kinect seems to have the capability with software updates to be quite accurate, so maybe once that happens. Is that what is holding up Kinect Star Wars?
