The reason those games were released on other platforms was because those companies saw an audience there and felt they could profit from it. These companies wanted a lot more money from Sony to keep them exclusive to the Playstation platform. Sony didn't have that kind of money after having 4 months of quarterly loses. No, I didn't contradict myself. The Xbox gamers I referred to (DMC, FF players, etc.) aren't actual Xbox gamers. They are Playstation gamers because they are playing Playstation games, but on an Xbox. A gamer should be identified by his or her games, not his or her console.

And yes, Namco, Capcom, & Square Enix have to do what Sony says. If not, they will be left out when Playstation 4 domination begins. Sony gave them permission to release their games on the Xbox because Sony wanted to satisfy the Playstation gamers that game on Xbox.

And if you're wondering, Sony intentionally failed the Playstation 3. They could have sold over 200 million units and put Nintendo & Microsoft out of business. Just look at what they did to Sega. However, they decided to be in third place so they wouldn't be accused of leading a monopoly. Because of their failure this gen, Sony can and will dominate next generation without getting in trouble for starting a monopoly.

It's like how Michael Jordan dominated for so long, he decided to retire. Then he came back years later to dominate again. That is what Sony is doing. Don't try to argue with me because all my points are well founded.

I'm not talking about the other years, I'm talking about the 1st year only. I believe the XBox 360 outsold the PS3 the 2nd year. The other years the PS3 was selling well in Japan. People keep forgetting that Japan is the PS3 edge. If the Xbox 360 sold even 1/2 as well as the PS3 in Japan it would be a different story. Remove Japan from the equation and tally US and Europe only and the 360 has the slight edge. The PS3 sells better in the U.S. then the XBox 360 does in Japan. The only thing that was holding the PS3 back in Japan was the price. Same thing that's happening now with the PSVita. It will SELL in Japan, the price just has to drop and more JRPG, and popular games like Monster Hunter and FF needs to be released on it. It'll take off it gets down to $150 - $199. The PS3 is popular in 3 regions, the Xbox 360 is popular in only 2, which is the difference. Still compared to how the original Xbox performed against the PS2, I'd say the XBox 360 is a clear winner this generation.

yeah... i hear you... sony didn't really let exclusives go any were since all deals were based in mutual support and never about money deals. and MS made money deals... so sony had nothing to say... but for the giggles, lets say it was on purpose... sony really does exceed. that is why i will buy PS4 even if it cost 600$... i did it once and i'll do it again.

on a more serious note... playstation  is the only console maker that has blogs and Share (input from gamers) to get feedback from users and have several replies per day to users. that shows that they care.

(i am not from america so i don't really know how the launch wnt down in there) that argument is nothing compared with the fact that in the first year Xbox did not have any competition in terms of 7th generation consoles. Sure it did. The PS2 was huge competition for it. Yeah.. there were no 7th Generation consoles, but there weren't any XBox 360 on shelves either because they were all sold out, except in Japan. They didn't get a real full shippment until March. Retailers like Gamestop, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart were getting 3-4 in each week. Yes, I've done lots of research. I used to work in the gaming industry. I live in America and know exactly how the launch went, as well as the PS3 launch.

Not so sure about the validity of your facts (no sources), and I KNOW those retailers wouldn't have signs saying "overstocked", it was 599 and 499 at launch, the first price drop came a year later in late 2007.

I'm not running around pulling up links again. I've done it so many times on this site and Gamespot.com. The links are out there though. They didn't have signs saying "Overstocked" They had signs saying, "PS3 Available Here". Here is one of the links just to prove I'm no liar.

Yes the PS3 did sell out in it's initial launch, but right after the holidays were over, retailers couldn't sell them and many gamers who bought one to sell on EBay were returning them. That's why many retailers became overstocked.
