Maybe he genuinely feels that way, or maybe he's just saying that because Nintendo has never had hardware powerful enough to do photorealistic graphics.

You never fail to make me laugh

good, we're playing games for doing unrealistic things, not to copy reality.

updated: 14.01.2012

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

Games don't need to be photo-realistic to be enjoyed.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Photo realistic games have their place but cutting edge graphics aren't everything. Things like Odin Sphere, Super Paper Mario, Windwaker, and other games that actually have an art style look infinitely better than things like Heavy Rain which has no style.

All a matter of opinion.  Heavy Rain was 10x better than the worst Zelda released in years.  Cutting edge graphics aren't everything but then again neither are cutting edge, simplistic graphics, or paper graphics.  Has to fit with the game, (Which Heavy Rain did completely).

i have enough realism around me and sometimes i like to go to that other world where things don't remind me of the real world.

i would like a Zelda like the one shown on WiiU though but still that’s not really a realistic look

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I'm frankly quite tired of the drive for photo realistic games. Realism is boring. It's uncreative. It's unartistic. I've gotten really tired of most of this generation's games as a result; they're all starting to blend together. We've got consoles capable of displaying billions of colors, and what do we choose? 64 shades of brown.

I prefer when developers get creative with their art designs :)

Both have their place.  You guys sound like Nature isn't a beautiful, work of art as it currently exists.  Games still aren't there but once we get to that point, why wouldn't you want to play Photorealistic games?  Things in this world naturally exist that trump 16 bit colors games, I'm sorry.   I agree that to make a fun game you don't need photo realistic graphics.  However, to dismiss them like many Nintendo cronies do is illogical too.

Do not want.

I'm so neutral 'bout this, I would feel the same way had Miyamoto said he's interested in making photo-realistic games.
