Forums - Sales - well the US numbers are up now.

ya its weird how the ps3 isnt doing as good as it should in america. it will rpobally rise soon though

I think PS3 is just too far behind in NA to stage a comeback. If you get an $350-$400 machine like 360/PS3 you'll want to play with your friends online (after all these systems are both all about the online play) and it's most likely most of your friends have 360.

Why would it rise in America?

If anything, it will decrease. The question is how much.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

wth with ps3 in US ? how can't it outsell the 360 with
brand + new price + Uncharted + 08 lineup + hardware quality + massive number of ads ?

There are barely ads, the ps3 still cost more than the Xbox 360, the 08 games arent coming out till Q3-Q4.

Guess we watch different stuff.  I see adds all the time.

The 360 and PS3 had pretty much exactly the same percentage drop this week in NA.

These post holidays weeks, it is risky to try to come to a conclusion. I think software sales, are far more safe as an element to examine. All these machines during holidays were given as gifts etc, etc. But games. Bought and played by gamers. Let's see how software goes. And triumphing for a 50k gap that comes from Japan with the most pathetic software numbers? I don't think is wise enough. And the opposite of course. These numbers show one thing. That the major titles, will go more and more multiplatform and the few exclusives are here to let you decide which console to get. I choose the western games, my mate chooses the japanese stuff. Simple as that.

Not shocked by the PS3 numbers in NA. In others, not so much either because of folks celebrating Christmas by the Julian calendar.

HAH!  You don't ACTUALLY think anyone uses the Julian calendar anymore, do you?

@ Gamerace

I can say, as several other posters on these here forums have said, including ioi, the holidays reveal staggering numbers. Folks will be willing to spend mad money on stuff, and even go into debt. Now, folks are broke and not so quick to pay $399 for a console period. Folks may want to buy a PS3, but reality starts to set in and price matters. As cool as the Wii is, I doubt if it was released at the 360's price point that it would do so well.

Yes, the PS3 will win over the 360 this week, but expect the PS3omination to start ... press pause.

Even worldwide, I expect MS to do a few price cuts, or toss some serious carrots to the Euro gamers - and then hit them with a price cut.

I can't wait to see the PS3 spin when the 360 starts to rebound.

For a first EU holiday, PS3 numbers were rather good, same with Japan. I don't think PS3 sales WW will fall under 360 in '08 either.

PS3 dropped 42%
XBOX360 dropped 42%

Why all the PS3 doom?

Because the PS3 got another holiday week from one of its strongholds (Spain) and it still only outsold the 360 by ~35k in Others... Extrapolate regular Spain numbers and the 360 is still neck-and-neck with the PS3 in PAL regions.

Like I said when the PS3 hit PAL regions hard in Nov/Dec:

Wait until the price drop wears off and remember that this is still the PS3's first holiday over there.

Yep. It looks like PS3 and 360 will be similar in worldwide sales for the beginning of 2008 at least.
