just saw a few minutes of a republican debate... apparently believing that religious organizations should respect the rights of minorities and not discriminate against them is in fact "secular bigotry". 

the view was vocally supported by at least two of the candidates and it seemed to garner rather loud applause from the audience. there was a fair amount of talk of war against christians by seculars in the short part that i watched, and it reminded me of a lot of the rhetoric by muslim extremists against the west and christians.

i found it disturbing.  i think trying to incite a religious war should be a criminal offense.

Uhh a religious would not end well that's for sure.

yes, you are lying and twisting words. and are making way more rediculous claims than they are because yo are being highly dishonest in you claims, and reporting of what happened

sadly, its accurate and very disturbing.  there is no war on christians by seculars or your government. these candidates that would say such things and those that support them are sick and disgusting.   on top of that, "seperate but equal" is not a fundamentally good idea and youd think that people wanting to be president of the US would have given up on that a good many years ago.  seperate drinking fountains and public washrooms surely wouldnt be that far away on the agenda if some of them won. of course, based on your past positions, you would likely find that highly appealing.

Discrimination, violence and general intolerance will be always be "acceptable" as long as it is in the name of some deity. Otherwise, its completely immoral.

I don't have much insight into the specifics of the debates and people you named now (but I know that the republican party has a lot more "devout" religious people) but in general, this is how it is around the world.

On the issue of gay adoption, I'd agree. It seems fundamentally wrong to extract taxes from gay citizens and then give that money to an adoption agency that wouldn't allow them to adopt a kid.

I disagree on the abortion deal, though, since the Catholic church isn't opposed to providing abortions because they're anti-woman or anything. They just think it's morally abhorrent to terminate an unborn child rather than allow it to grow up and be molested by a clergyman like God intended.

No he's not.  That's exactly what was said by the candidates.  They repeatedly say that Obama and the left are in a war against Christians, as well as trying to start a class war in this country.  It's not inaccurately stated in the least.  Gingrich, Santorum and Perry in particular use this to subtly appeal to the people that think Obama is a foreigner and a Muslim and a fake Christian and "unAmerican" without having to resort to the birth certificate tripe.  

From what I have seen in Canada, the freedom of religion and/or freedom of speech can be put at risk in favor of the false freedom from offense and/or freedom from inconvenient truths in the name of protecting minority groups. Realistically, the interests of everyone would be met in a superior fashion if they allowed/encouraged civil class action lawsuits for slander and liable.

Hitler, Stalin and their ilk would be very proud of this topic.
