Vita never had shortages. It makes me laugh every time when Sony fans use this excuse.

What about Microsoft fans? I guess that'd make me level headed in the argument which is more that can be said for you.

Last thing i would call MS fans is level-headed.

But seriously, I hope 3DS keeps it up longer than Vita, because if neither console keeps the jap. market up we all lose.

Talk about generalising, you're another one not to talk mr 'I think the hardcore will migrate to WiiU'

I'm sure you do hope 3DS stays ahead of Vita PSP and DS should have taught you Japan is all still to play for. Vita will start fighting back a lot sooner than the PSP did, just give a MH and a price cut and watch it fly.

I'm totally confused by that statement. What did the PSP and DS teach us other than that once again Nintendo were kings in the handheld arena? The DS is the best selling console Japan has ever seen, with the PSP just under 15million units behind it.

Towards the end the PSP competed far more competently with DS than it did when DS first launched (which is why it has such a huge lead over PSP)

Which is why I said it'll start fighting back a lot sooner, meaning the LTD gap won't be nearly as big as DS and PSP, and the possibility that after 5 years or so they're very close, with Vita even ahead.

If I had to bet I'd say 3DS wins, of course. Just don't count the Vita out already when you've seen how fast the weather can change .

That's more your hope than anything else.

Loose hope, you see someone not pro Nintendo and they're an EVIL SONY FAN *GASP*, I'm not invested in 3DS and Vita so ultimately it doesn't bother me who tops out. I prefer Vita though you're right, looks like a better handheld in every way.

If anything , the PSP was in stronger position, it was only 1 millions behind the DS one month after its launch. The Vita is already nearly 4 millions behind.

The PSP also had a huge franchise, Monster Hunter, which is now firstly on 3DS. The Vita won't be able to put a resistance against the 3DS.

Again, this gen has only just started, you think MH is gonna be exclusive to 3DS all generation? As soon as Vita gets its own MH it'll get all the MH fans buying one.

Even if MH is going on Vita too, it won't have a big impact since it is mainly on 3DS now.

Again, fortune teller? Why was it exclusive to PSP, despite the DS having such a huge userbase, what spurred on Capcoms illogical thinking there? The same can't happen this gen from this point on? After MH4 that might be the last MH you see on 3DS.

So i guess with that admission you're also saying that "hardcore" players are abandoning ship for the competitor?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

The DS did not had the power to run Monster Hunter, that's why it was on PSP. It was not a choice.

As soon as Nintendo released a portable able to run the game, Capcom jumped there. As simple as that.

If PSV isn't succesfull all handheld gamers will lose. 3DS isn't very atractive for western games developers and can't stop migration to smartphones.

I'll happily believe that when someone reputable backs you up.

Regardless, if Sony feel MH exclusivity is important to them making Vita a success (and it is) I have no trouble seeing them money hat as many of them as they can.

Seriously you make me laugh.

MH3G is released on 3DS and having success, MH4 is announced on 3DS and there is nothing announced on Vita but yet you act like the MH licence will save the Vita and beat the 3DS. How did you became admin, seriously?

So after 3 weeks

3DS: 683,382 (3rd week - 100,739) launched Feb
Vita: 472,587 (3rd week - 42,648) launched Dec

That ratio looks better than I'd have thought for Vita (even allowing for the Dec launch, which I think doesn't matter for something so new without a killer app) given DS/PSP install base locally.

Looking at ratio of 3DS/DS now vs Vita PSP/Vita now it's pretty clear that while most demand has shifted to the new Nintendo handheld plenty of demand for Sony handhelds remains with the PSP - I wonder if Sony will take the slow approach to letting them crossover?  I'm not sure it's the best thing for them but they seemed to take a similar view with PS3 vs PS2 initially.

Just as with 3DS I expect Vita to look weak unless/until Sony produce some seriously attractive apps locally.  Overall the library seems more attractive to West than East it seems to me at the moment.

Still, I feel comforted to know which device is now officially "doomed" at this point.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Whats my opinion on Vita/3DS lifetime sales got anything to do with me being staff (not admin) you talk out of your ass, put kindly.

Have we seen MH3G legs yet? No, it hasn't hit 1 mill yet and might not come close the PSP releases. It'll take a lot more than MH to save Vita, and I'm not even saying it will, (I'm not even saying it needs to be saved) I'm just pushing out all scenarios.

You're the one with the problem here, I'm looking at all scenarios (and certainly not predicting that's how it'll happen) but you have a very close minded view on the subject and obviously get touchy when someone questions anything Nintendo. Sort your attitude out now.
