Nintendo leads the way with innovation... the other 2 follow and copy what Nintendo does. With motion controls Sony copied by making Move and Xbox didnt want to follow suit so they came up with Kinect, similar by still using motion. Both Sony and Microsoft have more money to play with so they can come out with technologically superior systems but they dont really change the gaming experience. Wii kicked both their asses and it wasnt technically the better system as far as specs.

Nintendo is ONLY focused on making great software and innovative hardware for us gamers to experience.

So being technically advanced is not innovation? Which nintendo is now copying with Wii U. And oh, touch screens, did Nintendo innovate there?

Doing what is expected of you is innovative? Oh pezus...

Altthough I guess Sony did innovate with Cell. Wasn't really worth it though, IMO.

New technology is innovation, even though we expect new technology all the time. Blu-ray, Cell, Xbox Live etc. are all innovations just as much as Wii's controllers are.

Having hardware more powerful than your previous hardware isn't innovation.

Xbox Live is the only one of the  three that you listed I would classify as innovation for gaming on the level of Wii's controller.

The only reason you say that is because Nintendo didn't go that route.

Except they did go that route, for a very, very long time

The whole Wii type phenomenon didn't start until recently

I've never heard anyone actually argue this, that's why you've left me completely baffled

It has to be Sony, with the Vita so far not doing good and Microsoft/Nintendo having great sales (even though Sony did good this year.) Sony doesn't even really develop their own games and they seem to think they can price their consoles at the highest of prices. It would be sad to see Sony go though, I would rather it be Microsoft. (gaming wise.)

lol WHAT!?

Vita doing bad?? Sorry but to weeks in and not launched in Europe and US how the hell do you know. Look at the launch line up, its western orientated. Vita selling ok in japan, not great but ok and until there a final fantasy, monster hunter etc it will sell ok for now

And dont get me started on sony doesnt develop its own games. Just lack of really gaming knoledge i guess

Yup I'm just stupid.... I just say random things and don't know anything I'm talking about whatesoever..... really?!

The Vita is doing bad, it's not 'ridiculous' bad but it's bad. It released in a Holiday season and sold less than the 3DS in it's first week, and the 3DS wasn't even sold at a time in the Holidays and it had barely any games! Plus the second week dropped a lot! And their are still games targeted to Japan. (Dynasty Warriors, HotShots Golf, etc.) Anyway, Sony has like what? Maybe a few Sony made games? So please don't say I don't know what I'm talking about when clearly I do know. (just look at the data.)

What are you talking about

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCE_Worldwide_Studios

and if youre comparing to 3ds then it did nowhere as good but the 3ds as got monster hunter, marioland 3ds and mariokart 3ds. 3 massive games. Sony shipped only 500k so thats the figures they were expecting. wait for it to launch ww and give it a year. can you remember the 3ds doom articles.

What I read from that article they "added" all company's who made games but didn't make them themselves.

I am comparing it to the 3DS (only other 7th gen. handheld.) And the 3DS didn't have those games at launch (bolded.) I was talking about the recent months. Yeah I remember those articles I guess we do have to wait. Still Sony put way too much into this console just like they did for the PS3 with it's cell graphics precessor and other "shiny new expensive things" and they thought they could price it at $600 and looked what that did for it. :/ Heck look how the 3DS did after it's first few weeks of selling ok and then selling worse and worse because of lack of good games and $250 price tag.

So you didnt see the part about 16 studios god youre hard work. list of games from sony this gen

112 ps3 game

http://www.vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=&publisher=300&console=PS3&genre=&minSales=0&results=50&sort=Total

144 psp games

http://www.vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=&publisher=300&console=PSP&genre=&minSales=0&results=50&sort=Total

the search thing is a little crap but you get the picture.

Yeah 16 studios that they added to their company that are making games for them.

they are owned by sony. Doesnt matter how. Your comment about sony not developing its own games shows lack of knoledge when sony own the most 1st party game developers and probably sony own the most ips and created the most new ips this gen

We weren't talking about "levels of innovation" though. Wii's controller is arguably more innovative than Blu-Ray, sure, but both are still innovative. I'm going to leave it at that because I know that no matter what I say, you two will never agree about this. I'm out!

Yeah! That's right! Run! RUN!

And don't make the mistake of thinking I am some Nintendo fanboy who thinks the other 2 sucks.

Ok then let me rephrase that

Xbox Live is the only one of the  three that you listed I would classify as innovation period. Maybe not even this depending on how you look at it.

The optical disk was an innovation, an oprical disk with more capacity isn't

Computers/processors were an innovation, a more powerful computer/processor isn't

I could go on but you get the point

EDIT: Oh sorry, I didn't read that last part till after I hit post lol, ok then I guess we'll have to agree to disagree?

None of the above. Instead, a fourth party will enter the race and fall off the wagon quickly.
