Forums - Gaming - VGC's FPS review thread! (Killzone 3!)

Welcome to VGC's FPS review thread. It's pretty simple just wirte a review about the following game listed and give your rating. Once all the reviews (at least 10) are done I will calculate the average score (out of 100) and post it on the OP. I will make a new thread for each game. Most importantly you must match the following criteras. Here is an example:

Killzone 3 review Review: ( This is the format you can do it in if you want to put in the time or else you can just give a simple score in each cataogry)

Visuals: (Optinal)

Killzone 3 has one of the best visuals I have seen in a game and haven't seen or experienced a single frame rate issues. The overall presentation in this game is outstanding really the best looking FPS... EVER! 100/100

Gameplay: (Optinal)

Killzone 3's gameplay is truly amazing. It refines and polishes Killzone 2's gameplay and in many aspects makes it a much better game. The weapons are similar to Killzone 2's (which were fantastic). I sometimes do miss that old Halo/Killzone 2 feel but neverthelss when it comes to judging core gameplay Killzone 3 is one of the best FPS games in the market. 95/100

Sound: (Optinal)

Great backround music while playing 95/100

Singleplayer: (Optinal)

Killzone 3 did have a weak plot but gameplay wise it is in one word "fantastic" from the first mission to the last the gameplay will capture you. It starts out great and introduces you to the Killzone world once again and allows you to appreciate the new atmosphere. And takes you right into action after that. It keeps a good pace through the whole singleplayer (unlike Black Ops and Resistance 3). And playing this game with PS Move just takes the singleplayer to a whole new level.  95/100

Multiplayer: (Optinal)

Many people may disagree with me here but Killzone 2 refined online gameplay. Many people may give this prestigous credit to other games but in my opinion this award goes to Killzone 2. Halo did bring online gameplay into onto consoles ( a reason why COD is so popular now) but Killzone 2 was the first game I played that had a perfect war setting in not only singleplayer but MP as well. With 32 players online, many classes/weapons to choose from, and possibly the best war atmosphere you can imagine in a game Killzone 2 did it all.  Killzone 3 was unable to take that same techincal jump but the MP was really fun. Jetpacks and other vechiles refined the Killzone 2 gameplay and not only that the MP maps were also outstanding in both games but more so Killzone 3. The new classes in Killzone 3 only made the experince better however only 3 modes to choose from? I really expected new modes. I hope they can change that for Killzone 4 as it will be a serious issue in the future.. 91/100

Summary: (Opitinal)

Total score: (Important)

Halo Anniversary: 94%

Average score: 87% (Wii be continued later)

Killzone 3: 94%

Average Score: 92% (Will be updated)

Sad not a single person commented. Is it because the game is too new? Anyone?

Visuals:

To be honest the I was rather let down by the graphics in CEA. Here I was expecting graphics on par or slightly better than Halo Reach but it turned out they were significantly worse than Reach, Even Halo 3 looks better IMO. But don't get me wrong, it is nice to be able to replay Halo CE with much better graphics and for that I am happy. Also being able to switch between the old style graphics and the current was unfortunately nothing more then a cool little novelty, it was impressive but rather pointless.  82/100

Gameplay:

The gameplay is exactly like the original which is a good and unfortunately bad at the same time. It's great to replay the game exactly how it was 10 years ago but the bad thing about it is they didn't bother to fix the horrendous frame rate in the game. I don't think it went above 20 FPS the whole time I played. But even with the horrible frame rate I stuck with it to the end because the game is fun, especially with a coop buddy. 70/100

Sound:

Like every Halo the sound is one of the best things about the franchise. From the updated weapon sounds to the remastered music it was just glorious. 95/100

Singleplayer:

Being able to play such a good classic with remastered sound and much better graphics was quite the treat, terminals added an awesome new aspect to the story as well. I do wish they would have done 2 different modes for the singleplayer campaign though, one that was exactly like the original and one where you could play it more like Halo 3 or Halo Reach. 90/100

Multiplayer:

I'll be honest, I have never really cared for Halo CE's Multiplayer and have no wish to play it. But having 7 maps plus 1 firefight map for Halo Reach was certainly a plus. Also all of the maps were quite good. 85/100

Summary:

Halo: CEA even with it's annoying shortcomings was still a treat to play, it may not have been as good as I was expecting but it's still a darn fine game.

Total score: 80/100

Good review.

It's 'cos you want a whole review. Well, that's my reason anyway.

Also might because he picked an xbox centric title that recently launched. Since the site is generally more Nintendo and Sony, and since it just launched less people have it.

Okay I guess I'll change up the game then.

It's Killzone 3 now I need at least 10 reviews to move on to the next game!

Visuals: Killzone 3 looks incredible. From the lush Helghan forests to the crumbling concrete of inner city slums, the environments are gorgeous throughout thanks to the consistently good looking textures, fantastic particle effects, addition of the vibrant colours that were sorely lacking in it's predecessor and an excellent attention to detail. Good anti-aliasing and motion blur effects add to the beauty of the game by making it pleasing to the eye. Frame-rate is rock solid. This is the best looking shooter on consoles. 100/100

Gameplay:  Satisfying and intense. The controls are a huge step up from Killzone 2, they are tighter and more precise whilst keeping the feeling of momentum that distinguishes Killzone from the rest of the FPS pack. The weapons you get to experience the refined mechanics with are fun to use, but if you're looking for an original and distinctive selection of weapons, you won't find it here. You are definitely being channeled through a very specific path but the visuals and epic battles will keep you too absorbed in the action to notice. 90/100

Sound:  Weapons and vehicles sound good, but it's nothing special. Voice acting is top-notch. The original soundtrack is brilliant.   90/100

Singleplayer:  Killzone 3 picks up right where Killzone 2 left off, a small group of ISA soldiers are stranded on the hostile Helghan planet. The game seems to want to be a story about a small group of soldiers struggling to survive behind enemy lines at times but never seems to explore that premise enough and ends up feeling like the many other gung-ho Michael Bay-esque military shooters. Not that this is a bad thing for some, but to others it may feel too predictable and overdone, I'm dissapointed Guerilla didn't take the survival-story route with this one.

The mission structure is varied and works very well, you are mostly fighting on the feirce fronts of the battlefield in many different settings, the odd stealth or vehicle mission change things up every now and then and keep things fresh. Overall the 6-8 hour single-player contains a lackluster plot but you'll usually be too engrossed in the excellent gameplay and action to notice.   80 /100

Multiplayer:  The multi-player is definitely above average. All three modes are fun to play, the maps are mostly great and the revamped levelling system is a more than welcome change, if you love Killzone's gameplay and you loved Killzone 2's multi-player, you'll love the multi-player in Killzone 3. However I do feel that it is simply not on the level of, nor does it have the mass appeal of other multi-player focused titles such as Call of Duty and Battlefield. I think it appeals to a niche.   85/100

Overall = 9/10

uuuugh.. *sigh*, why? KZ3 released almost a year ago and were still reviewing it!!??. Same threads on same games from the same pll over n over n over n over n over n again( specifically from the SONY crowd)... stop telling us how much you love these games .. my gawd we get it.

The reason your threads get such little response is because what your threads ask: Its been done 100's of times before.

Do you expect him to make people review games that just came out, and therefore, few people have played, never mind completed?

Pezus its the topic at hand not just content at hand.. he asking you review KZ3( a game reviewed to death ) you better believe he will get too: Rage every CoD Halo BS R3 ext now with a rough guess.. how many threads do you think were made on VGC to rate, review, grade .. whatever.. these games? just a rough guess? We are 2012 now.. all that year recollection of 2011 is over with. Lets move on now.
