Visuals: Killzone 3 looks incredible. From the lush Helghan forests to the crumbling concrete of inner city slums, the environments are gorgeous throughout thanks to the consistently good looking textures, fantastic particle effects, addition of the vibrant colours that were sorely lacking in it's predecessor and an excellent attention to detail. Good anti-aliasing and motion blur effects add to the beauty of the game by making it pleasing to the eye. Frame-rate is rock solid. This is the best looking shooter on consoles. 100/100
Gameplay: Satisfying and intense. The controls are a huge step up from Killzone 2, they are tighter and more precise whilst keeping the feeling of momentum that distinguishes Killzone from the rest of the FPS pack. The weapons you get to experience the refined mechanics with are fun to use, but if you're looking for an original and distinctive selection of weapons, you won't find it here. You are definitely being channeled through a very specific path but the visuals and epic battles will keep you too absorbed in the action to notice. 90/100
Sound: Weapons and vehicles sound good, but it's nothing special. Voice acting is top-notch. The original soundtrack is brilliant. 90/100
Singleplayer: Killzone 3 picks up right where Killzone 2 left off, a small group of ISA soldiers are stranded on the hostile Helghan planet. The game seems to want to be a story about a small group of soldiers struggling to survive behind enemy lines at times but never seems to explore that premise enough and ends up feeling like the many other gung-ho Michael Bay-esque military shooters. Not that this is a bad thing for some, but to others it may feel too predictable and overdone, I'm dissapointed Guerilla didn't take the survival-story route with this one.
The mission structure is varied and works very well, you are mostly fighting on the feirce fronts of the battlefield in many different settings, the odd stealth or vehicle mission change things up every now and then and keep things fresh. Overall the 6-8 hour single-player contains a lackluster plot but you'll usually be too engrossed in the excellent gameplay and action to notice. 80 /100
Multiplayer: The multi-player is definitely above average. All three modes are fun to play, the maps are mostly great and the revamped levelling system is a more than welcome change, if you love Killzone's gameplay and you loved Killzone 2's multi-player, you'll love the multi-player in Killzone 3. However I do feel that it is simply not on the level of, nor does it have the mass appeal of other multi-player focused titles such as Call of Duty and Battlefield. I think it appeals to a niche. 85/100
Overall = 9/10
