What is Microsoft's stance? I am just curious.

MS backed out a while back but kept a low profile.

Really? You have a source or something?

I skim read the thing, but it seems they are somewhat opposed to it, although in a quiet manner.

Well Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and EA have removed their active support, but all of them are members of the ESA which currently is still in support of it. There was an article on the site about Sony and Nintendo still supporting the legislation just because they are in the ESA but Microsoft is also a memeber. But with four of their biggest members pulling active support may mean the ESA will pull it support soon also.

Here is a list of ESA members:

38 Studios
345 Games
505 Games
Capcom USA, Inc.
Deep Silver
Disney Interactive Studios, Inc.
Eidos Interactive
Electronic Arts
Epic Games, Inc.
Her Interactive, Inc.
Ignition Entertainment
Konami Digital Entertainment
LEVEL-5 Inc.
Microsoft Corporation
Namco Bandai Games America Inc.
Natsume Inc.
Nexon America, Inc.
Nintendo of America Inc.
Nival
NVIDIA
O-Games, Inc.
Perfect World Entertainment
SEGA of America, Inc.
Slang
Sony Computer Entertainment America
Sony Online Entertainment, Inc.
Square Enix, Inc.
Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc.
Tecmo Koei America Corporation
THQ, Inc.
Trion Worlds, Inc.
Ubisoft Entertainment, Inc.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Inc.
XSEED Games

The ESA is the organization that organizes E3 plus plays an active roll in trying to protect the gaming industry in the US. Which may be the reason why they originally supported the bill.

Excellent.

Anon has nothing to do with this, but they'll probably claim credit for it. This was 100% the result of consumers all across America, and not just gaming nerds and hackers, crying out and opposing sweeping legislation that would have granted unprecedented power to groups like the MPAA and RIAA to basically enforce their will as they please.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

About Anonymous, I wonder why they aattack Sony and a few other companies with so much more fury than a lot of other companies equally or even more guilty of attacking users' rights and freedom...

Lol, for Sony it's probably because they can't get over Other OS, even though they probably have everything else in their homes running Linux.  Hell, even though the PS4 won't support Linux (thanx a lot hackers), they will still be bellyaching and going after Sony.

@ OP

Good news.  The idea behind this bill isn't a bad one, but the implementation sucks.  It's too broad and generic.  Either it needs to be rewritten or dropped.

Totally rewritten, because one party can't have more power than the other, and the judge can't be a priori biased in its favour and against the other party.

SOPA is a fucking joke. I love how they give it a name like Stop Online Piracy Act so it sounds reasonable to people, but really it just infringes on our rights and is unconstitutional.
