PS3 and PSP doing great, Sony domination! 3DS did a similar release when it was as expensive as the Vita. You will see sales kicking once everything said and done!

please tell me that was sarcasm

Can I say is a Nintendo Christmas?

Glad to see ffxiii-2 do bad because it really shows that their fan base won't support mediocrity. DLC on FF game?
Those are "sidequest" and skill-based mini games "rewards" we used to have (costume and weapons). 13 was ok, but damn was it linear, some people like it but I think the evidence in Japan speak for itself from almost 1.5mil on 1st week to 500k, around 1/3 of the original while X and X-2 was about 3/4 retainment ratio.

Vita will always have the issue with being the "hardcore" device. Its target market is the most competitive. 18+ where people also need to juggle between budgets with school and substitute products of tablets/cellphones/GFs. There is just no time to fit the vita in their schedule and also come up with a budget to get one.
The vita had a good software lineup but it is still console port games. Why play it on the vita if you can play on the 60 inch hd tv.
3DS appeals to family/kids/everyone, that's why it is so successful. If you are a parent will you buy the vita or 3Ds for your kid? They have a children-market all for themselves.

There must have been Vita shortages. This can´t be true.

I'll have to disappoint you about that one.

Although my experiences aren't representative for the whole of Japan I can say there are plenty of Vita consoles in stock.

In the past days I went to about a dozen stores selling video games and all of them had both Vita versions in stock.

I saw not a single "sold out" sticker. (Well, I saw one, but that was for a memory card...)

Your words can't be trusted. Especially, someone from Japan :)

Vita 72,479

What a shame, but i don't think PSVita it's doomed already...

Maybe the consumers learned from what happened to the 3DS and are forcing a price cut on Vita.

Its never going to happen.

How do you know?

The dramatic 3DS price cut happened after the official launch price of Vita was announced and many people got worried Vita would be considered too expensive and here we have relatively week launch sales. I think it's inevitable.

The only reason the 3DS got a price cut was because Nintendo overpriced it at launch. They were being kinda greedy.

But Sony had said that they are taking a loss on Vita, so there is no room for a price cut. Yes, it is expensive compared to the 3DS but there's a reason for that. Its a much more powerful system. All the Vita needs now is a killer-app.

The weak launch sales are due to it launching too late in the holidays, and strong competition from the 3DS which is being marketed towards kids. The DS is already being phased out so the 3DS is essentially taking its place. Sony needs to start phashing out the PSP to increase Vita sales.

Why did you say that?

Nintendo is a family friendly company. They make games for kids and kids at heart. Hence why 99% of their 1st party games at Rated E.

Vita was just a test. Like the PSPGo.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
