Its sad how many people here hate on FF series now because SE choice to go multiplat.

LMAO!  You're joking, right?  I don't think anyone even mentioned it being multiplat besides you.  What this is about is SE taking the franchise in a direction no one wants it to go in.  Mostly linear with little to no towns and battles that almost control themselves.  It's an attempt to appeal to the West, even though FF games have already sold well in the West as they were.  They also said they may be aiming have a main FF game release every year, just like the COD series.  Plus, SE business decisions this gen have been horrid.  Instead of letting Nomura finish the FF game people are actually excited about, FFV13, they took at least half of his team off of it to finish other teams' games (fortunatley they're finally all back).  Then they pushed out a sequel to a game no one was asking there be a sequel for and may be starting to make a FF13-3.

Unfortunately those are abysmal second week numbers for the Vita. Hopefully Sony won't start panicking and begin slashing prices if things don't pick up immediately. Sony would be much better served if they accepted a smaller market share and ran their division more profitably IMO.

PS3 and PSP doing great, Sony domination! 3DS did a similar release when it was as expensive as the Vita. You will see sales kicking once everything said and done!

People will probably hate FFXIII versus aswell and guess that will be because it is exclusive :)

So finally a million seller in Japan in 2011! Achieved in the last week too! Next year software should have a major boost

the future is grim for the PSVITA

That word is not to be used so lightly. Modern Crapfare Portable, that is all. In Japan, Sony will have to figure something out and they will.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Maybe the consumers learned from what happened to the 3DS and are forcing a price cut on Vita.

Its never going to happen.

How do you know?

The dramatic 3DS price cut happened after the official launch price of Vita was announced and many people got worried Vita would be considered too expensive and here we have relatively week launch sales. I think it's inevitable.

The only reason the 3DS got a price cut was because Nintendo overpriced it at launch. They were being kinda greedy.

But Sony had said that they are taking a loss on Vita, so there is no room for a price cut. Yes, it is expensive compared to the 3DS but there's a reason for that. Its a much more powerful system. All the Vita needs now is a killer-app.

The weak launch sales are due to it launching too late in the holidays, and strong competition from the 3DS which is being marketed towards kids. The DS is already being phased out so the 3DS is essentially taking its place. Sony needs to start phashing out the PSP to increase Vita sales.

Why did you say that?

Nintendo is technically targeting children, how many Rated T and M games do you think Nintendo even make? Yes, even if a game is rated E which is for Everyone, it was originally created to appeal to the younger age. (Which isnt a bad thing, their making millions on that idea).

A game without massacres does not mean kids game.  Hell I'm 52 and I enjoy Mario games because they are fun and very well made. My friends in my age group have a great time with cart. I would say they make games for everyone.  Although I do love goldeneye and COD games as well as well as resident evil.

Its not about who can play it, the reason why people say Nintendo is targeting children is because they ARE targeting children, it is their main audience and they know that old fans who grew up as children while playing the games will still get attracted to it.

You have to remember Mario and all those other Nintendo franchises were originally targeting children and children make a huge fanbase in terms of sales as well even to this day, nobody can deny that.

You must be crazy to think Nintendo is trying just to target children. They TRY to appeal to everyone. Super Mario is heavily bought by older individuals and if I had to guess I would say the ratio between children and adults is about equal. So not only are the targetting children but teenagers, adults, and other casual people.

The lowest cost you can get into a Vita for , with one game is (using RRP) :

Wifi model : 24800 yen
+
4 GB card : 2200 yen
+
Dark Quest : 2800 yen

= 29,800 yen

ALTERNATIVELY, you can get the following :

3DS : 15,000 yen
+
Mario Land : 4,800 yen
+
Mario Kart 7 : 4,800 yen
+
Monster Hunter Tri G : 5,800 yen

= 30,400 yen

Just let that sink in a bit....

There must have been Vita shortages. This can´t be true.

I'll have to disappoint you about that one.

Although my experiences aren't representative for the whole of Japan I can say there are plenty of Vita consoles in stock.

In the past days I went to about a dozen stores selling video games and all of them had both Vita versions in stock.

I saw not a single "sold out" sticker. (Well, I saw one, but that was for a memory card...)
