Forums - Sales - Rate the new sales category system

Which system do you want?

AMERICAS\EUROPE\AP-ME - Current System 7 18.42%

NA\EMEAA\JAPAN - Old System 12 31.58%

NA\EUROPE\JAPAN\Others - New System 19 50.00%

Total:38

So i have been following VGC numbers for 4 years now and i have been pretty accustomed to it and even if you look elsewhere to different tracking groups and official sales number the system of Americas,EMEAA and Japan was the standard

VGC changed its catergory system some time back it got divided into Americas,Europe and APME

Many people got very excited that this change came about cause inside EUROPE charts like UK,FRANCE,GERMANY started listing on VGC page but of people noticed, they were there before also just ot displayed on front page

In my opinion it was a very bad change,

they should keep the old system

OR

do something like NA,EUROPE,JAPAN,OTHERS(ASIA - MIDDLE EAST - AFRICA - SOUTH AMERICA)

I think Japan and North America should have their own hardware chart on front page as its a substantial sales region

Agreed. And I don't really get why there is such country's as France and Germany..Pointless.Either bring ALL country's, or just Europe,America,Japan and Others...

Take my love, take my land..

Its ok, though I wish they would update the software totals to reflect the true sales.

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

I don't see what the big deal is.
If you don't like the German, French and British charts, you can just view the European one instead ?
The only issue I have is that the game pages showing the first 10 weeks of sale do not include "Others" sales.

Agreed... for the most part. I like the seperation of EMEAA Regions even though I don't look at it. But I really hate the new APME, Japan should have it's own seperate chart. And one last thing, I really really don't like the new switch between weeks mechanism, it's very clunky. I liked the scroll down bar better. =D Just my two cents.

It depends where it's heading.... If this is it then I preferred the old system.. however if more options are added then it will be better.

I like that Europe is it's own region for example, but the other PAL regions within AP/EMA should be accessible too, rather than having to subtract Japan and vaguely figuring out which consoles sell in which of these small regions.

What I would like to see, but that is hopefully not outside the realms of possibility is this:

Global Americas U.S.A.
Canada
Other Americas
Europe UK
France
Germany
Spain
Italy
Other Europe
Other global Japan
Australia & New Zealand
Others

So each of the above will have their own chart page, and it clear that the more individual charts fit into the larger region charts, and they fit into global.

I understand that ioi doesn't get direct data from many countries (though I would be surprised if he doesn't from Canada, Australia, Spain and Italy... even if there are currently no charts for them) but it would be nice to view what is being estimated in these other regions directly instead of trying to work it out. Then again I can see ioi's position on this because people generally don't understand how statistics and extrapolation works. So if there is a specific chart for "other Americas" which is meant for Mexico + central and South America, and someone comes along with a shipped figure for S.America and Mexico that disproves some of VGCs figures, people start arguing that ALL VGC figures are therefore null and void.

Still, I think the way to get past the ignorant is to be as clear as possible, and not hide things... even if sometimes it can take time and effort to get people to understand.

What does AP-ME or whatever it is even mean? I get that it's Japan and everything else but what does it stand for?

uhm just throwing it out random but could be "Asia Pacific - Middle East"? The letters match at least

I hear it is much more accurate! So no complaints here.

what does the category system has to do with accuracy?
