Forums - Gaming - The Graphics for FFXIII are AMAZING

The 3 hours I've played are definetly like that.

That doesn't surprise me given what you've said so far. Still, you are entitled to your own opinion.

It's just that RPGs are longer in length than most games of other genres and tend to take longer to really get into them.

I know the game was pretty linear (especially at first), but I happened to like that very much about the game (it helped that I had no prior expectations about it). The game had many great aspects, I wanted to list them at first but I see no point, I'd just like to mention the superb battle system the game had, which I enjoyed so much as to go out of my way to battle more enemies just for fun :)

It was impossible to win all fight just by spamming auto-attack. This just prove you havent played the game very far.

This. People who criticise the battle system for just being "spam X" are talking out their arses.

I've always felt the visuals of this game were fantastic, but overlooked for its more...polarizing features. Even in "professional" reviews.

I wouldn't say that at all. Basically every review I read about the game praises the visuals and only the visuals. They weren't overlooked at all. Its easily the best looking rpg ever. Its just that good visuals are nice in good games, but can't make a bad game good. Not saying everyone thinks XIII is bad, but that if someone doesn't like the game, no amount of prettiness will magically make that go away.

Yes, I agree. I cannot wait until FFXIII-2! I'm probably going to purchase it at BestBuy for the preorder booklet. I played the Xbox 360 version. Very sharp as well :)

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

I'm playing the game atm, and on chapter 11 (guessing I'm near the end?)

So far I'm loving the game, graphics, storyline, music and characters.

Though I can understand why people would hate it cause of the linearity. Regardless the battle system and the graphics are my most favorite part of the game xD

P.S. I was surprised because I was clocked at 17 hours when I was on chapter 9, but now I'm 30 hours into chapter 11 (which I just barely started few min ago xD)

Wahey, nice to see you've played more. I've seen Final Fantasy XIII stuck on Chapter 9 in your sig for months now.

Care to explain why?? Never played LO myself, but why is FF13 a good game and not LO??

OT, the game looks good, but thats just about all it has going for it. I never felt like I was playing a FF game, it felt like I was playing a really expensive dungeon crawler, with a bad narrative attached to it.

LO is definitely a good game too, never said the contrary. The reason I took LO as example is because both have similar cons and pros. The production value of FFXIII are higher though. That being said, I would totally understand someone prefer LO. But praising one while bashing the other doesnt make much sense in my book. If FFXIII wouldnt be call FF I really think people would not be as harsh.

The game fails not only as a FF game, but as game itself, because walking forward and pressing A or auto attack is nothing one could call gameplay.

That may not be your style, but that doesn't make it a bad game, I enjoyed the game very much from beginning to end so the game certainly doesn't fail for me

Besides, the game isn't all like that, your statement is just plain false.

The 3 hours I've played are definetly like that.

The gameplay has a lot of progression.

If you think the first 3 hours are the whole gameplay, you're wrong, and you haven't played a lot of JRPG's

THIS, when I play an FF game, especially a mainline game I expect nothing but the highest quality. Story, Graphics, Battle system. FF is THE JRPG series, anything less than almost perfection and im an annoyed person. They only delivered on graphics, IMO. ANd even then it means nothing when you are just going from corridor to corridor for hours until you get to gran pulse and even then its just you battling bland monsters with a battle system that doesnt suck, but could have been much better. I could see why people like the game, especially if you have never played an FF before.

FYI I feel the same about SF and Mario series

I agree that you expect more when its from a serie like this. But its still an enjoyable jRPG. Better then many other things on the market, but like you said, worst then many other FFs. That being said, even with its name reputation, in a genre that is not that popular, it was able to gather good reviews. This speak for itself when it comes to my argument about bashing the game unreasonably. Now, stating your opinion about what you dislike and like in a reasonable manner, like you did, is not what I would call bashing the game.

People do take it overboard, but the reviews... I may be paranoid but it felt like some of them were to chicken shit to give a number they really wanted to give and just threw 9s and tens at it. Im not picking on FF13, I feel this way about. Crysis2, NMH, Conduit1 hell even Uncharted 3
