Forums - Nintendo - Do you think the ambassador can increase game sales?

Now that all the ambassador games have been released I've had the chance to play Fire emblem and Warioland and I'm enjoying them very much. I've even gone out to find the wii versions of both games since I can't seem get enough.  I am thoroughly enjoying F-zero as well which I always thought looked weird. With the ambassador program I was able to see how wrong I was about some of these games.

My question is since there are millions of ambassadors out there in multiple countries do you think game sales for any of these game series would increase since people who probably never gave them a chance now have the ability to play them?

For example, more people now have free access to Metroid Fusion then the game actually sold to. The ambassadors may enjoy the game more than they would have guessed and become fans of the series and then those who become fans of the game can spread the word to their friends how awesome it is.

Well going back to metroid example if nintendo makes another Metroid for the 3ds people who wouldn't have gave metroid a chance before now know how great it is since they were ambassadors and got to play one of the games for free.

Maybe used sales. Or are you talking about via download?

Seeing how Fire emblem is almost at 1 million physical copies sold and has probably already passed 1 million if you count the digital downloads I was right in my thoughts.

If nintendo gets its act together and release a 2d Metroid on 3ds it could do alot better thand the usual 1-2 mil it's been doing currently

it can. the situation is kind of similar to what sony does with PS+. a trend i noticed is that sometimes when a big game is about to release they give away its prequel for free on PS+. for example when Resident evil 6 was coming out they gave away RE5. and when borderlands 2 was coming out borderlands 1 was on PS+.

the thing is how many Ambassador users are there? werent there about 3 million 3DS sold before they did the price cut? so about 3 million ambassador programs, out of the entire 3DS userbase it seems a bit low to make a significant effect in future sales but it still could.
you also have to consider that all of these franchises have been around for a very long time, so its more than likely that most people would have tried these out before as well, so the possibility of people trying out these franchises for the first time is low IMO so it wouldnt effect sales much.

I think almost certainly Fire Emblem has benefited, and most likely 2D Zelda and Yoshi games will when they release also.

In addition, I hope the Wii U ambassador program also helps.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

This thread was made over a year ago when the 3DS sales were weaker than they are now....

holy fuck i did not notice that! why was it bumped lol.

On Fire Emblem, I do think you are right. Personally I barely knew the franchise existed. Haven't gotten Awakening yet, but I see myself getting it somewhere down the line because it pretty awesome. Metroid's a whole lot more known though, we'll see how much better it will do if a 3DS game releases.

You got me checking. VGC says that there were just over 3.5m 3DS's sold the week before the pricecut happened (and then did almost 400k the week after). Probably not everyone got into the ambassador program. Man, my ambassador-activated is actually a pretty rare 3DS then! O.O
