Forums - Nintendo - DS cart hunting should be a new competitive sport, I swear.

I've been very disorganized with my DS/3DS games and I'm not happy with myself about it.

However, in the process of coming to that conclusion, I went from being very frustrated and upset to having way more fun than I ever should have.

It started off with me only knowing where my 3DS, DS, and DSiXL were, as well as the games inside them (Mario Kart 7, two Acekard flash carts). THAT'S IT.

Then I went around and collected a few DS and 3DS game cases that were laying around, and some of them had random games inside them. This recovered Golden Sun and Picross.

I continued hunting and ended up finding my little baggy that had most of the rest of my games inside it - recovering Ridge Racer 3D, Super Street Fighter IV 3D, FFIV, DQIX, MySims, Castlevania: DoS, StarFox Assault, PKMN HeartGold, Mario Kart DS, Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Club House Games, Nintendogs, Brain Age, and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

However, that meant most of my FAVOURITES were missing - Star Fox 64 3D, Zelda OoT 3D, Super Mario 3D Land, Bit.Trip.Saga, Tetris DS, Meteos, and Pokemon Pearl.

First I found Tetris, can't remember where. Then Pokemon Pearl on my wife's computer desk.

Then I found Mario, Bit.Trip.Saga, and Meteos all together inside a Duracell battery box (the boxes that packs of 'em come in at the store). This was right about when I stopped being frustrated about the situation and started actually having fun with it.

Then, I knew Zelda was in the Star Fox case, and Star Fox was in the Bit.Trip case (because when I bought Star Fox and Bit.Trip, I remember the games that were in the 3DS before them got put into those cases "temporarily" so I could play the newly obtained games). But I didn't know where those cases were. Found the SF case on a DVD rack amidst Wii games, and the Bit.Trip case completely by luck out of the corner of my eye buried under a pile in my wife's corner of the bedroom.

And with that, I found all of the games.

Hori 24 game case. These things are smaller than a DS phat, clip closed, store carts 6 per page (4 pages), and generally rock. I've been playing my 3DS a lot ore now I've got 46 games easily available, rather than digging into the "DS Drawer of dooom" which had run out of room, and made it difficult to fiddle around for cases in. I'd dabbled with single hardcases for the carts, put in a tin novelty lunchbox - but even the shuffling/digging through that made a lot of games hard to find.

Original cases are now stored in a box in the DVD closet for (the rare time) when I need to reference the manual.

(official listing on the Hori site - this is the DS model, but 3ds ones are much the same)

They're available pretty much everywhere - get 2 or 3! They're usually less than $10.

I had approximately 20 DS games I hadn't even played yet, and while I still have 19 (I've only had these things a month or so) - being able to see them all at a glance gives me more incentive to play than a drawer full of cases.

I just keep mine in my DS or 3DS case and have never mislaid or lost any.

I have a GameCube carrying case that I keep my GBA games and gear in. I then have tubs for my N64 and GCN games. I keep my Wii games in drawers near the TV and some GC games. My DS and 3DS games though tend to get scattered since I keep them in multiple drawers. I almost got furious once when I couldn't find SF4 3DS cart so I then put my 3 3DS games into an old DS carry case which I use for the 3DS now since I have a Club Nintendo carry case that matches my DS lite.

Damn sounds like you got serious on your organization.  I'll have to probably get one of those cases once I build my DS collection back up again.

I keep my games in their original cases except for a few that I think I'll play that day but I think you sold me on that DS case (gonna grab the 3DS version).  It's just easier for me to take  a lot of games at once.  Also, if somebody wants to rob me, they can steal my whole collection instead of just a couple of games.  Everybody wins!!

I suggest you leave a fully loaded DS case out of sight the next time you wash your Explorer.

I have a shelf where I keep everything in their cases. I have yet to experience such a problem...

"Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth." -My good friend Mark Aurelius

I've got around 40 Wii Games, 46 DS/3DS games, 100 plus 360 games - without getting started on Xbox1/GC/GBA/Ps2/Ps1 titles.

I need many shelves. I HAVE many shelves, in a (lit) closet(good for keeping away from my son!), in addition to my loungeroom/next to console bookshelf of titles.

And stuff is STILL hard to find!

Remember those old clear plastic Game Boy cartridge cases?

Just get hold of a couple of those and stuff them full of DS/3DS carts, that's what I do.

(and no, that isn't me in the pic, it's just a random one I snagged off of Google images lol)

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
