Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why do people think FPS are better with Wiimote/Move?

Besides Metroid Prime, me and my brothers were not able to really get into FPSes until the wii. Of course we had played a few here and there and COD looks better on the HD consoles, but if not for motion controls, me and my bros never would have gotten into FPSes. We've beaten modern warfare on both HD and wii (and I've beaten Red Steel 2) and the idea of playing a FPS with a regular controller is just annoying now. I mean its functional and there's nothing wrong with it, but I just prefer motion. Similar to a smart phone without a touch screen. It works perfectly without a touch screen and the touch screen may even create disadvantages that regular buttons didn't have, but overall, I prefer a touchscreen for a smartphone.
By the way, I don't even use a smartphone and the buttons do everything my simple phone needs to do perfectly. It's the same way I think games like soccer or God of War have much more to lose than gain from incorporating motion controls.

The exact same reason keyboard and mouse are better. The transitional times from a point A to a point B on the screen using analogue sticks is set, no matter how good you are. With the other control methods said time approaches zero, and is solely dependent on the skill of the player.

Example of just how shitty and bad analog sticks are for FPS games: aim-assist., I do laugh how analog FPS players think they are "hardcore" though.

Being hardcore or not has nothing to do with aim assist... Console FPS are deliberately different because of the poorer method of aiming, which means the games focus on different things.

Does aim assist make console FPS easier... yes of course... but in an identical game the aiming of a console FPS would be much more difficult (and if I am interpreting your defination of it correctly, more hardcore) without an aim-assist.

That is very true, except that that would mea that you intentionally shoot yourself in the foot in doing so. It would be like the the 100m dash wheelchair, and then take away the wheelchairs and call it harder than the regular 100m dash. Well, no shit, but it's also pointless.

Edit: Basically, if a genre will be shoehorned into a bad control scheme, might as well do the best you can. The FPS genre would be neigh unplayable on the analog sticks if the gamers werent pandered and babied and it never would have taken off to begin with.
