but the Vita has PS3 level graphics so it should sell good because of graphics!! i mean thats what people want right? so how can they be dooming it already?

Are you that ignorant? There's much more to the Vita than amazing graphics.

Says the guy that thinks the 3DS is a PSP

guess i'm ignorant ;)

it's all about what you're looking for.

I will just take everything I put in Kowenickis thread and post it here.

Do you really think that is what is going to save the Vita MDJ? If it needs saving at all.

Well there is my Vita thread that says pre orders are lacking, which I got from a source.

The Vita's pre-orders are lacking! Is this going to be a problem for Sony?

We have this thread that says.

Can Sony Vita resists the 3DS storm?

This says that the Vita will be the bomb!

Official Playstation Vita Thread! : "Uncharted: Golden Abyss Campaign To Last Longer Than Uncharted 3's!!!"

We have this thread saying that the vita will not be what they said it would be right when the system came out in Japan.

Sony Backtracks, Says Only One Account Per Vita

Here was the lie that tried to get you to spend a ton of money on memory cards

PSVita supports multiple PSN Accounts per system, but only if you have multiple memory cards.

This seems to support part of your claim here.

New stats show Mobile gaming is slaughtering handheld consoles!

This shows that sony does not want to be late with the PS4, were they late with the Vita?

Sony Doesn't Want to be Late with PS4

And finally here is something that could show that everything here is wrong from Seece

PS Vita Shipments could top 700k (Japan) FW

I think it is hard to tell where the Vita will land at this point. I agree that core gamers will go out and buy this handheld, but after that it will have to have a wider appeal to the masses to survive. But with that being said, other than Mario and Monster Hunter in Japan does the 3DS even have that going for it yet?

It's all about what you're looking for. I may be crazy for saying this, but the memebers of this site search for news which makes us journalist, and we report what we find wether we agree with it, or not. Those threads are pure speculation with the exception of Seece's which is merely an unknown factor considering the key word in the title is could, and we have no idea.

Sure Vita is trapped between smart phones and 3ds, but what we don't know yet is how well Vita will do until it's (today) released. i think it has a very good chance of selling 10-15m by 2012 yr. end, and to 17-20m by Sonys fiscal yr. end.

The only real difference is the feature set, which I think Vita has more than any smartphone, and Vita is capable of the type of gaming that touch screen phones are, giving dev.'s the ability to make on screen buttons for the device makes Vita a more fleable challenger to smart phones than the 3ds. And if you like skype! Vita has that to, so in some respects it's also a phone.

So, with Vita's full list of features, Vita is capable of doing it all, and can go to war with 3ds, and the best smart phones on the market, having only the problems presented to it by the market, as with any handheld, smart phone, and mobile device.

While many of you may WANT the Vita to succeed (and it seems like quite the awesome handheld), you'd be crazy not to acknowledge the factors mentioned in this and other articles that seriously bring into question if it will be successful. The market is a very different place now than when the PSP and DS launched. But we'll have to see how this all plays out.

Darth, I agree, but the article also forget to mention that gamers from previous generations arent necessarily switching to gaming light platform. There is still an audience for portable gaming platform. Never I would use my phone to game, and im not the only one, 3DS sales are a proof of that. I dont have any hard numbers, but im pretty sure that most of those phone gamers wouldnt purchase a gaming platform anyway. I expect PSP/DS like numbers.

it will fly off the shelves at first.... its after that initial storm that it matters.

Agreed.  This is what I'll be watching closely.

It seems the "doomed" vibe is shifting from Nintendo back to Sony again. Have to update "The Cycle of Doom"...

Now that you mention it, I wonder if the doom-o-meter has ever pointed MS

Zune

Oh the 'infamous' zune. Then it were right, it was indeed doomed.

Indeed it was...however its interesting to note that the design ideas of Windows 8, Windows phone 7 and new xbox dashboard all trace back to Zune software and mp3 players.

Don't even get me started on Metro UI.

I personally know only  2 people that bought a 3DS.  Both are hardcore gamers persay.  One of them sold his already because he enjoyed playing more on his work provided iPad.  Anectdotal?  For sure.  But to think that hardcore gamers aren't likely to make the switch would be quite the hopeful pov versus a realistic one.
