Well it succeeded at those things, but is still is a generic shooter that had the worst AI I have ever seen in a shooter. Still think the firs one was way better as it was not your average linear shooter like the sequel.

In this context it seems to be the category for overall best game of the year.

Looking at other awards there was hardly any competition.

Which is suprising - with so many gamers they should be development powerhouse but if you look at it 4 Polish game dev companies completly outperformed whole German industry

why not? we have the best german sportsman award as well and i bet you have something like the best us-americans sportsman award as well...or the best innovation in the german industry award or whatever. i think this is pretty normal that every country on this planet has these awards. i just don't have a clue why op has to post this in a non german forum lol

gaming is in huge discredit here in germany that's why hardly noone wants to open a studio in germany. we are spezialized for learning software or games for little kids like horse games for pc and shit like that (and for many browsergames) but if a company wants to make adult games they are fucked up here. that's one of the reasons why crytek, which is a german company, was thinking about leaving germany completely.

for example i saw a report i believe 2 days ago about modern warfare. they showed it to people on the street and asked them what they think about such a huge success for a videogame. they all replied like "omg how can this be". one woman said something like "if this is what the young generation is doing nowadays,  the world will have no future anymore"

We have other "powerhouses", but they simply haven't released a game this year.

Well Related Design an BlueByte did it with Anno 2070, but that was too late for these awards it seems. Probably just like FIFA Manager 12. No Settlers game this year. Risen 2 by Piranha Bytes is going to be released next year. Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances is in the works at EA Phenomic. Crysis console port apparently didn't count either.

But what's in development for next year in Polish dev houses ? Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 and Witcher 2 port ?
2011 was a good year for Polish devs with Bulletstorm, Dead Island, The Witcher 2 (and CoJ The Cartel), but don't act like this was a typical year for the Polish gaming industry.
