Forums - PC - Command & Conquer: Generals 2 is a reality, triple-A PC exclusive from "BioWare Victory"

And it has just been revealed. Command & Conquer: Generals 2 is a reality and will be a triple-A PC game. The game will be developed by BioWare and in cased you didn’t catch it, it will be a PC exclusive title as the only available platform – for the time being – is the PC. Given that this is EA though, we might see it on consoles too. However, the game is PC exclusive for now. Interesting, no? Oh, and the game will not support DX9 as we can see from its minimum requirements. Does this mean that it’ll use the Frostbite 2.0 engine? Oh yes it does. BioWare and Frostbite 2.0 in a strategy game. Seriously now, what more could you ask for? The game is currently slated for a 2013 release and we have some screen-grabs from the official release, the first details, system requirements and its teaser trailer after the jump. Enjoy everyone!

Minimum System Requirements:

OS: Windows Vista (Service Pack 1) 32-bit
Processor: 2 GHz Dual Core (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Athlon X2 2.7 GHz)
Memory: 2 GB
Hard Drive: 20 GB
Graphics card (AMD): DirectX 10.1 compatible with 512 MB RAM (ATI Radeon 3000, 4000, 5000 or 6000 series, with ATI Radeon 3870 or higher performance)
Graphics card (NVIDIA): DirectX 10.0 compatible with 512 MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 8, 9, 200, 300, 400 or 500 series with NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT or higher performance)
Sound card
DirectX Compatible
Keyboard and Mouse
DVD ROM Drive
Recommended System Requirements:
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: Quad-core CPU
Memory: 4 GB
Hard Drive: 20 GB
Graphics card: DirectX 11 compatible with 1024 MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 or ATI Radeon 6950)
Sound card
DirectX Compatible
Keyboard and Mouse
DVD ROM Drive
And here are the game’s features:
• All-Out War — Take control of three unique factions, competing for resources, building up your base of operation, and leading massive batteries of tanks, soldiers, and aircraft into battle.
• Uncanny Sense of Realism — Frostbite 2 technology allows for visceral, visually stunning conflict at an epic scale. Incredibly detailed units and environments, dynamic physics, and exhilarating visual effects bring the battle to life in ways never before seen. This is the closest thing to real war without the consequences.
• New Ways to Dominate or Ally with Your Friends — Go beyond classic deathmatch with a selection of new multiplayer game modes, designed with both cooperative and competitive play in mind.
• Thrilling Campaign — Command the war on terror in an electrifying single-player campaign. Experience the dramatic story from multiple perspectives — from heroic General to crazed terrorist — while engaging the enemy in pulse-pounding tactical combat.
• Ever-Evolving Experience — Enhance your game with an expanding array of downloadable content. From maps and units to factions, campaigns, and more, the fight against terrorism is deeper than ever.
Here are also the first two, in-game, screenshots of C&C: Generals 2. Enjoy!

Well while I would definitely want to get this on consoles, if it only releases on pc, I'll just have to get it for that. XD

My pc exceeds most of the specs posted (Although I would imagine they're not final) so if push comes to shove, I'll still get it on pc.

Really glad it's on frostbite 2, with Bioware at the helm, the graphics should be top notch for a RTS.

RTS on consoles? Ew

Maybe Black & White Kinect but not a real RTS

As for graphics those screens aren't all that, I know better looking RTS coming

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of RTS on consoles either, but it's where my friends are, and me and one of my old buddies still managed weeks of enjoyment with LOTR:BFM2 even if it was on console.

Heh, depends on which enviroments you prefer I suppose, Command & Conquer has never been heavy on the foliage in it's levels.

I'll have another look at "WarGame" media in a few hours though, haven't checked it out before.

I'm somewhere in between minimum and recommended. A bit closer to recommended.
I don't know what to expect from this title though. Making a great C&C game is not an easy feat and letting BioWare do it feels kinda random. Could be cool, could suck more than Kirby.

The lack of AA really lets down the presentation of C&C:G2 some of the tanks look like pixelated smudges and the textures on the first pick are pretty poor (if you are going to let people zoom into that level you might as well add some better textures, Shogun 2 has massive battles yet has better visuals up close), explosions look nice tho. Still for a 2013 game I can't say I am impressed with the visuals, not that it really matters for an RTS, framerate and visual clarity are the important things, you have to be able to pick out different units at a glance.

Well it's not coming out until 2013 so you probably would have upgraded by the time it's out...

And it's not really Bioware, it's BioWare Victory which is basically the stratergy devision of EA with teams in  Los Angeles, CA; Austin, TX; and Shanghai. Bioware is basically the EA RPG/MMO+Stratergy arm of EA now not just the Edmonton studio. So the Bioware devision (headed by Bioware co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka) now consists of BioWare Edmonton (Dragon age/Mass Effect), BioWare Austin (MMOs TOR specifically), BioWare Montreal (Mass Effect plus ???), BioWare San Francisco (web and casual/facebook stuff), BioWare Mythic (MMOs Warhammer) and Bioware Victory (RTS, C&C) and all their games will carry the Bioware label.

Confused yet?

Absolutely not...

Don't worry most of the bioware games are worked on be several studios so there is no real way of knowing which games are worked on by who so the Bioware label is now meaningless in terms of differentiating games so even a Bioware Edmonton game might not really be a Bioware Edmonton game, especially as the Montreal studio is the biggest of the lot and likely has it's hand in every game in some way.

Hope that helped clear any lingering confusion up for you...

Westwood studios.

It's not gonna happen, but I can still ask for it. Still, Despite EA running this franchise into the ground and repeatedly hammering at it to stay down, I'll withhold judgement for now. It is Bioware after all. It'll be interesting if they try to tie the generals universe in with the others, though I was hoping for a semi reboot, one where they would ignore every game that was made post Westwood.
