You keeping in mind that TP was a Wii launch title and therefore sales are naturally not gonna be as high as when SS came out?

The SS sales are horrible. You can't compare with TP because this was a launch title, so it's normal to drop on the following weeks because the fanbase was not big enough. Also, as a launch title, TP had better legs. Starting with just 140k and finishing around 550k. It's a good result after all. 

But if you compare with the portable Zelda, the thing is different. 

Phantom Hourglass has sold more than 900k in Japan, and Spirit Tracks more than 600k. 

And then we have the Ocarina of Time remake. Its second week according to Media Create was 37.452, bigger than SS and it was in summer, and now we're in Christmas time...

SS is doing worse than a remake released in summer, and in the end of the Wii's Life, so it's not going to have the legs that TP had. I have my doubts thinking that this Zelda will match the 400k mark, and that will be the worst result for a main Zelda in Japan.

I doubt it'll have the same long term sales as TP

See SMG1 vs SMG2... SMG2 had better start than SMG1, but it dropped off quicker, SMG2 was ahead for 5 weeks then SMG1 out-paced it

Not defending Skyward Sword sales but here are some interesting points to consider while making a comparison with TP:

- TP had lots of hype

- TP was a launch title (good thing or bad thing? there wasn't any other game to pick)

- TP does not need an add-on

- TP is eaiser to play?

- Some people have abandoned the Wii.

However its second or third week sales turned out, I still stand behind my view that so far, its LTD is roughly 40k more than TP was in its third week. Will it outpace Twilight Princess?  Probably not, but it's not a bomb either. If it sold only, say, 80k, THEN it would be cause for concern. As it is, its sales are neither blockbuster nor bomb territory, only par for what TP sold, if somewhat less so.

Anyway, I'm done with this topic.  I'll come back and see how well it does months later.  Meanwhile, America can take all the copies they want.  Regardless of its sales in Japan or Europe, the game is still a worldwide success overall.
