Course it is, Spider-man 2 was incredibly good its rotten tomatoes score is 93%, The Dark Knight got a 94%. Spider-man got a 89% to Batman Begins 85%. Its not like there was a huge gap, Spider-man 2 was considered the best superhero movie at the time, it still didnt do close to what Batman did.

The Spider-man Shattered Dimensions game was good it hasnt sold 1 million across 4 consoles.

The level of hype shows how much more popular Batman is right now.

So we have a fight here over comic books now.

Why doesnt it, there are millions of people on the internet looking up these movies and games and talking about them every day. Arkham City had a lot hype which is why it opened so well. I dont think anybody gave two shits about Edge of Time even me who liked the previous one and thats why it flopped.

I watched the VGA's this morning. To me, it looks like Joker was going to create an "Arkham World" if he didn't win but since he won his category, we're safe. Looks like it was just a joke to me.

As for Batman vs. Spider-Man--The Spider-Man game on the PS1, N64, and Dreamcast was probably the best super-hero game released up to that point. It did everything right. The following games were decent but didn't live up to that standard set by the first (only talking 3D, not Nes, Atari, Genesis, etc.) one. Batman has had some good games (Nes, Snes, and Vengeance) in the past but lately, his games have been GotY calibre. In the gaming world, Batman is the king of super-heroes.

Look at that trailer for the new Spidey game. Giant robots. Really? And it's based on a movie. And Spidey still has that red stripe on his pants that we've all been complaining about. That game is going to be garbage.

As for movies, Batman ('89), Batman Begins, Batman Returns, and the Dark Knight are epic. Spidey 1 and 2....hell, I even enjoyed Spider-Man 3 were great fun but c'mon. Doc Ock's tentacles that had personality? The way Sandman got his powers? Convenient amnesia? They were great comic book movies but horrible movies in general. Batman has had some shitty movies but he's had more good movies, too.

And, in comics. The industry is doing pretty badly. Digital is their last hope and charging $4 an issue for a 22 page story, I don't see comics surviving in their past or current form. Sad, since I grew up loving comics. Marvel and DC have been going head to head forever with Marvel coming out on top more often in terms of popularity and sales. But as an avid reader of both brands and a fan of the now defunct Wizard: The Guide to Comics, let me say that Spider-Man's comics have been trash for quite a while (or at least until 2007 when I just stopped reading comics in general).

Batman's story archs have been more compelling, in my opinion. The industry seemed to agree, too. Marvel was doing better than DC because of great stories like Civil War and Secret Invasion--not because of Spider-Man who was busy making deals with the Devil (true story!), poorly revamping characters, and fighting vampires. Batman was facing his formerly dead ward, facing Black Mask for control of Gotham City, and coming to grips with having a son. And Batman's sales WERE above Spider-Man even though Marvel as a whole was outselling DC.

Long story short: Spider-Man

Thats because people actually cared about that game. Its all about the media which proves whose most popular and in recent times, Batmans had the bigger film, the much bigger game, a cartoon series thats been going for a couple years now (Spider-man got cancelled after one series), it has a successful Live Stage show whereas Spider-mans musical ended up a failure and now it even wins out in comic sales.

Its impossible to put up a argument for Spider-man because he clearly isnt more popular now.

Im thinking itll be close for Batman and the Avengers, i can see that being big. I dunno how Spider-man will do but id be very surprised it if out grossed Spider-man 3.

Xxain, there hasn't been a good Spider-Man game since the PS1 days (that Spider-Man game was pretty awesome though). I hope we get to see another one like it, but it won't happen anytime soon. The beat'em ups from the SNES were also pretty cool.

But yeah, we have to accept that Batman is king now, in games and movies. The Dark Knight is one of the greatest films of our generation, and Rises will raise the bar even higher just like how Arkham City raised the bar after Arkham Asylum. Arkham World will be nothing short of a masterpiece.

I just finished Arkham City, its decent, but the story is Joker centric, like the first game, Two-Face was barely in it. so if they do another i hope they decide to branch out with the villains they use, maybe some of the villains forming coalitions together.

and i dont know whats going on with Mark Hamil, etc, he said he wouldnt voice the Joker again, which suggests he wont be in the sequel. if there even is one.
