Sony has a strong line-up next year. They have focused on Vita this year, because that is launching. Sony will make more PS3 announcements in the coming months for games hitting later in the year.

Really? I think the oposite. When Nintendo announced the 3DS, support for the Wii virtually stopped and some games were even transfered to the Wii U (Pikmin 3). I would think Sony would do something similar, but less extreme.

Really. Sony Santa Monica will announce their new games around GDC 2012. Which I would believe to be God of War IV.

Sony Japan Studios will confirm The Last Guardian will hit in 2012, maybe around October 2012.

We'll hear what Naughty Dog's First Team is doing. Uncharted: Among Karts?

Sucker Punch will announce a new game for PS3.

Polyphone Digital will make an announcement for a VITA/PS3 cross platform game, but that will likely be a 2013 title.

Those are just my thoughts on what could happen in 2012.

Vita can help extend the life of the PS3 by the means of cross platform play.

You sure all these studios will announce/confrim these games? Or is that just your opinion...wait it is, nvm. Anyway I think the opposite, I think Sony will put more effort into their PSV and PS4 lineup, and their PS3 lineup will dry off. I think The Last __ and ___ will be the last two AAA games on PS3.

WTH? PD will make a PSV/PS3 cross platform title? They only make GT games, and GT PSP sold terribly.

PS4 will not launch til late 2013 at the earliest. Sony won't make any moves before having a couple profitable fiscal years under their belt with PS3. The Last of Us shows there is still quite a bit of juice left in the PS3.

There is no doubt they are working on PS4, but they will not make a move until they see something more concrete from Microsoft. Because they know what they have. They know that the PS3 continues to increase in sales every year and games have been improving their sales on the platform for the past 4 years as well. Sony London Studios, Polyphony Digital, Zipper Interactive, Team SoHo and Sony Online Entertainment are all likely working on engines and tech demos for PS4, while the other studios are trying to milk more profit out of the PS3 that still has time on its hands.

I coun't the time when they announce a game for Americas to when they release it. Releasing a game in Japan has no bearing on when the game released here, so WKC still takes over 2 years to release here. Sony could localize the games much faster, Square enix never has problems localizing their main titles.

Why releasing on Japan first has no bearing in it? Again localization is not simple as you think. Why are keep ignoring that fact? SE you say?   FF XIII and XIII-2 are the only excemption so how can you explain KH, Dissidia and duodecim, 3rd birthday, DQ9, FF type-0 (has yet to have a release date in the west) and etc. etc.?

Did you know that I live in Asia (Philippines to be exact)? and Did you know I have access to  Japanese games? There are stores in here that accepts pre-order of Japanese games and sells Japanese games albeit it's really expensive because of the Yen factor. I-tech and to some extent Datablitz are the stores if you would you like to know.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkFN-G933II here's the unboxing RE revival selection video (it's Japan exclusive) of my fellow kababayan (countrymen).

My main point is the moment the games that were released on any region is considered to be a release game already. it means they already finish it. You already have access to it. Demon Soul was imported by a lot of gamers on the west. You can't just say just because you live in NA the game is still development stage and the game is yet be release.

TBH honest you are really nitpicking here. >_>

I said except The Last Guardian, you brought back the games with +3 year dev times. Read.

Ok, i stand corrected about this one. I actually misread that one.

Team ICO is not the only small team Sony has. Polyphony Digital is only 140 people, and I have no doubt the next GT game will also have a long development time. It doesn't matter that it's after 2008, they have already announced GT6 (as in PD announced working on it, not people assume it's in development), and I really doubt the game will release before fall 2013. Last Guardian is no exception, it's an example.

1st of all. PD with 140 people is pretty big, it's not a small team.

Team ICO originally has 20 members but 8 left and then about 27 joined after SotC was finish so you do the math. 140=44 /s

I counted 44 because that's how many people are working on TLG.

http://teamico.wikia.com/wiki/Team_Ico

8 months - 1 year dev time as average? you mentioned so many games with 1.5-2 year dev times, MAG, Twisted Metal, God of War 3, etc

I never said dev time. I said localization time. Those are two different thing. 8 mos. to 1 year or so is the normal ones for localization somtimes it's take longer than that.

Also....you said Last Guardian was an exception. Did some digging, and 8 Days is a game which is in development by SCE London, and still not released. It was cancelled in 2008, but in 2009 Sony confirmed the game was not cancelled, but "put on hold." I don't know much about this game, so if anyone is could you verify this? If this game is still "on hold" then announce to release for this game looks to be over 5 years (it's probably cancelled).

So are you going to include it aswell? It seems you can't give me one game that was annoiunced after 2008 and was released with a 2 years timeframe. Ok don't bother I'll give you one but it's not "2 years" because you keep on changing your goal post. Hold on onto that "2 years" you keep mentioning and don't move the goal post. We were arguing about that 2 years time frame not 1.5 years.

Sorcery was just announced as a spring 2012 title. It was first revealed in E3 2010. 1 year and 9-11 mos. but of course I am asking for more because you said it's pretty common for Sony to announce a game far too early while I showed you a ton of games that said otherwise.

Ok  we can also add GT 6 too. You are already stating it as fact that will be release on Fall 2013 without the thinking possiblity of GT 6 releasing by winter 2012 to 2013 or spring 2013.

You see that's nitpicking my friend you are including unknown variables. GT 6 could be 2013 title or not and only time can tell us.

I'm not forcing my opinion onto anyone, I am just showing people what's happening. Sony has less games announced for 2012 then they did for 2011 at the start of 2011, and many of it's years before this. There are less games comming for PS3 now then there were before. Yes I am being critical, but your the one choosing to try to change my opinion, when most other more rashional debaters either just say "I agree" or "i disagree."

But did he ask for it? And I am not trying to change your opinion. TBH all I did here was give you facts but you keep cliniging on that opinion of yours and stating it as facts. I won't even try to debate with you If I don't know what I am talking about because I would only look stupid if I said something wrong another person cames in and points that out.

And just read what your saying, I can't talk about the future of PS3 1st party games in a thread about PS3 1st party games for past present and future?

You can.  Prime example is, you are talking about Last of Us.

It's just that you keep debating on PS3 2012 line-up when it's not even the topic at hand or even the delayed games you keep mentioning. We are here to talk about the quality games that Sony has brought so far and the potential games that the other dev will still produce for the PS3. It doesn't matter on how many "new games"  as long that it is a new game and Honestly that is the one most important thing you keep missed in this thread. Aldro accepted that PS3 future is kinda bleek but he was surprised that naughty dog is still creating new IP for the PS3.

"Hell I thought we had seen the end of "new games" but boy was I wrong."

 http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=137671&page=1

See the key words there "new games" isn't last of us a new game? Where does it's say PS3 2012 line-up or the delayed games?

so did you realized already that your post was not his point and you are taking his post and his list out of context?  The delayed part and PS3 2012 line-up part are really out place. That's why I don't understand, why you brought that up.

The OP did specifically talk about future PS3 exclusives not being on a decline like he thought, I am just pointing out, it is. I agree about the past, and I agree about The Last Of Us, you are focusing your comments towards me about my comments on the future because you can't accept my opinion.

Where? I have been reading the OP again and again in case I missed something but I still can't see the things you are saying. Can please qoute that specific line?

"Hell I thought we had seen the end of "new games" but boy was I wrong."

Sorry for posting it again. See the key words there New games he didn't expect that there will still be a new games. ( last of  us )

Just read on the previous paragraph I replied to you with a long explanation. I don't want to repeat it again.

geez.

Yeah I agree, geez.

geez.

Yeah I agree, geez.

You know, by focusing on my comments on the future (when I'm clearly discussing more then just the future) your derailing the thread?

geez.

Do you speak Japanese? If you do, then your lucky because many of PS3's exclusives come earlier to you. For me I have to wait 2-3 years for anything from Sony of Japan...

Didn't say the game was in development for 2-3 years ever. I said the gap between announcement and release. If it's announced in Japan 3 years before it releases in Americas, then for gamers here it's a 3 year announce to release gap.

Your right I can't name a game 2008 beyond with a more then 2 year development time, but that's only because 2007 there were a few titles (Last Guardian and White Knight Chronciles). Also if a game takes 1 year and 9 months to release, that's still damn close to 2 years and your nitpicking when you say it isn't. Take an average, include WKC and Last Guardian, and the average is 2 years.

Also because GT5 took 5 years to release from announcement, I really doubt GT6 will take just 2, even with Sony releasing games sooner after announcement.

Do you not understand why I bring up 2012? It's completly in context with the thread. READ if you can't understand. If the OP is so proud of Sony, pointing out that most of the announced games (which are few) won't be releasing any time soon (2012 in my arguement) shows that the future lineup is dry. It's a shame too because Sony did so well until 2012. It doesn't matter weather I limit my arguement to 2012 or the next 6 months, it's still the same point, and because you just don't understand that, I just won't respond to you.

In a thread about past present and future, it makes complete sense to talk about the future and even focus on the near future.....man oh man...icarumba!

Also read what you wrong....Author didn't expect to be seeing any new games... I am pointing out that there aren't many. Do you understand now, or do you have to re read the OP?

I think PS4 and NextBox will announce this E3. Wii U is coming in fall 2012, they can't have no replacement console announced when it launches.

I know more games will come on PS3, but I don't think we will see anything spectacular like Uncharted or GT. Yess TLoU is Naughty Dog, but it;s by their second internal party, and this is that party's first game. I think it will be great, but like many PS3 exclusives, sales probably won't be too spectacular. I'd predict 3-4 million, above the Killzones, but below Uncharted 2 and likely 3.

Like I said before, I think Sony will be releasing a lot of new IP's on the 360, leaving nearly all the established brands for early releases on PS4. The only established brand I see which could possibly come back to PS3 is Killzone.

I don't think gaming will be based around the old generation lines. Sony and Microsoft can squeeze more at of their current systems. Nintendo can't keep pushing the Wii. They have to launch a new system and hopefully keep as many of those consumers as they can.

Look at Kinect and Move. They are both doing very well because it's capturing the people who are in the Wii's market. If the Wii U can't outperform the PS3 and/or 360 in terms of gameplay performance (online has to be there for the Wii U, without it they won't match the sales that the Wii managed).

Sony is constantly announcing brand new IP's. It doesn't matter where we are in their system's life. When a concept is create and gets the green light. The game gets made. Simple as that. God of War was released in 2005, PS3 launched in 2006. I believe that The Last of Us will release in 2012 and then in late 2013 Sony will launch PS4. But also think about what has happened in the last week since The Last of Us was announced.

Sony has not let up with the information coming out about the game. I believe Sony will heavily advertise TLoU.

I know, PS360 have the potential to go forward. There is no garentee that 2012 will even show a drop in sales, they could easily cut the price, and there are rumours of a PS3 Slim 2.0. I always think the gen is ending, and I'm usually wrong about it so :P.

At least we agree PS4 in 2013 fall, and yes Sony couldannounce a new IP, or even make The Last of Us 2 for PS3 release in 2014 like they did with GoW. However I hope the GT is new and freh for PS3 instead of a latecomer for PS3.

and I don't have cable, so I dunno how much any game is advertized, but I bet TLoU will see as strong advertizing as Uncharted.

Didn't feel like creating a new topic but I believe the next xbox will be first out alongside Wii U. All I wonder is if Sony will be a little bit later or very much later (as in a year). I think all three will launch close to each other though.

"Williams, Coyner's replacement, will be tasked with guiding the design and brand strategy as the group moves toward launching the next console. The game developer Web site Develop recently pegged the launch of the next console for 2013, something a source on the Xbox team confirmed. Microsoft declined to comment on the timing of the next Xbox."

I am not even focusing my comment on your thoughts about the future. How about the delayed part? What's delayed of the PS3 games has to do  with this thread and linking to your PS3's line-up being dry? Yes I already derailed the thread along with you. Where did I say I didn't?

geez.

Do you speak Japanese? If you do, then your lucky because many of PS3's exclusives come earlier to you. For me I have to wait 2-3 years for anything from Sony of Japan...

No. I don't speak the language.

Didn't say the game was in development for 2-3 years ever. I said the gap between announcement and release. If it's announced in Japan 3 years before it releases in Americas, then for gamers here it's a 3 year announce to release gap.

Lol! you are a funny guy.  If  it was announced  in Japan and  it was release release in Japan a year after then it only has 1 year gap.

Key word  "Japan".

Your right I can't name a game 2008 beyond with a more then 2 year development time, but that's only because 2007 there were a few titles (Last Guardian and White Knight Chronciles). Take an average, include WKC and Last Guardian, and the average is 2 years.

Of course you will not be able to name one because it's not happening anymore and I am glad that you admit that you can't name one. Thank you! Thank you very much.

I said It's not happening anymore, you said it's still happening but you can't back up your claims other than the game that was announced before 2008 so whyt are still arguing here?  Let's end this debate about announcing game part. TBH my whole argument was to only show you it's not happening anymore and I I agreed that it happened before. I am not trying to say it didn't happen. Can we end this debate now?

I am nitpicking because I am trying to be accurate? ROFL   Excuse me and sorry but that really made laugh. Aahaha!

Also because GT5 took 5 years to release from announcement, I really doubt GT6 will take just 2, even with Sony releasing games sooner after announcement.

It could release on 2012 for all we know or early 2013. Like I said it is an unknown variable. You can't just add GT 6 when it hasn't have a release date yet.

I only bold the important thing, Where in OP had said  anything about 2012?

In a thread about past present and future, it makes complete sense to talk about the future and even focus on the near future.....man oh man...icarumba!

But where did I said you are not allowed to talk about it? I am just talking about your 2012 dry line-up which is out of place.

Also read what you wrong....Author didn't expect to be seeing any new games... I am pointing out that there aren't many. Do you understand now, or do you have to re read the OP?

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4336720 Jay's post

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4338944 Shinobi's post.

and

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4339440

So are you suggesting that the three if us read the OP wrong?

I have been trying to to tell you, your post was out of place and you missed the point of the whole thread. This is  a  "celebratory thread". The OP is happy in sony's first party line-up not just the future but the past and the present as well. It's common sense not enter this thread and tell us not to be happy about future PS3's line-up and tell people those game will be delayed.

I think we have to agree to disagree on this one because there's no point in continuing this  silly debate. I just hope when you tried to create a celebratory thread like this one no one will will try derail  your thread with uneccessary posts.

Anyway, if he is happy about the line-up there's nothing you can do about it. It's his opinion not yours.

To be honest, I am still surprised PS3 and 360 are getting peak sales. I feel all the great games have seen enough iterations, but kudos to Sony for annoucing The Last of Us. That looks to be a great new IP.

I fully support Andrew House taking over the PlayStation branch, because Europe is getting it right on so many levels. Japan has weakened (in the western eyes that is) and I've been a vocal opponent of Jack Tretton and his leadership of the American branch. Because of House taking over the entire branch means that Sony is making the moves that are needed to return to the top.

That's why The Last of Us seems to be following more of a PS2 era title. Something that Sony appears to be throwing great support behind despite the age of the system. I hope the PS4 has a similar design plan like the PS3 had.

But looking at the PlayStation platforms. PS1 was revolutionary. PS2 was evolutionary. PS3 is revolutionary. PS4 will be evolutionary. PSP was revolutionary (but misguided which forced Sony to make) Vita revolutionary.

To clarify what my intention with this topic was is =

I am so happy over Sony's first party ever since 2008 until now and I can't believe they are giving us this much to look forward to aswell.
