Apparently my modest proposal to illegal immigration in American got locked. So, the next issue to address is homelessness in America.
There has been debate over whether or not to have government handle it. So, let's rule out government and see if there is a possible solution free of tax dollars. And there may be. The solution would consist of the following:
* The solution wouldn't be able to be guaranteed to be on private land, so some public land would be useful to house the homeless, so say parks are used.
* Since the homeless out in the elements alone would cause them to risk their lives, it is proposed they be allowed to use tents donated to them by citizens.
* Since the homeless usually have problems with education, and not associating with educated people, you have college students stay with them. This also has the college students make contact with real people with real problems. This also provides the homeless a form of community, so they can connect with other humans.
* Have people ship in food to feed everyone, and also allow them set up basic first aid for them to.
* For basic hygene, people can periodically leave to go shower in private homes.
* Of course, management and giving people a voice is an issue, so they could assembly regularly during the day and discuss things in general.
You allow this to continue until the economy improves.
All that would be needed for this is some public land, say in a park somewhere out of the way that isn't used. These camps would cost far less to operate than other attempts at sheltering folk, and be safer than just letting the homeless be under bridges. They could grow as needed. And with the money saved, this could be returned to the rich to invest and generate jobs. It is a win-win all around. The only other possible solution, unless one wanted to actuall use more tax dollars (or hope people donate more money) is maybe to make the homeless go to a mythical place called "Away" so people who have jobs and homes don't have to look at them. Shame that there is no mythical place called "away" for undesirable problems to go to any longer.
