Forums - Nintendo - So who still plays wii ware games...

Yeah. Defend your castle, Toki Tori and Lostwinds are always a great way to spend a rainy day. After that, some Bonsai Barber.

People play wiiware games?

My thoughts extactly.

Castlevania Adventure Rebirth and Rage of the Gladiator. After that I think I've played all my Wiiware games, so I'll download more.

well, the wiishop only let me buy games via those wii point cards, the only thing is that in my country nobody sells those cards, so... I have only downloaded a few demos, and some games I bought while I was on Canada on 2008... man even the eshop doesnt work here :/

I played FAST but it was just the demo. Would jump on it if I had some points.

What country are you in?? Not even credit cards?? That sucks, HARD

@menx64 if it was region free like SOME consoles, you wouldnt have that problem

I'll ignore what seems to be some kind of troll trap saying that there aren't many good Wiiware games coming out any more, everyone know there hasn't really been many good Wiiware games since it began.

To answer seriously, yes I got Flight Control in November, I got FAST: Racing League back in May, though haven't really spent much time on it, I'll probably go back to it later though. I also bought Flowerworks in January... the most time I spent this year on a WW game though was Hydroventure in January (though I bought it in December I was still playing it in Jan) i also spent a little time on Art Style Light Trax, Pearl Harbor and Phoenix Wright T&T this year.

Last year was my most Wiiware-centric, over 95 hours spent on WW.... about half was on the 3 Phoenix Wright ports though.

In terms of quality games from WW, I tend to buy full retail games 2nd hand or heavily discounted, so I don't see so much value in Wiiware games which are shorter and not much cheaper, but some gems have shined through:
World of Goo being the obvious one, though I view Hydroventure as similarly awesome. Swords & Soldiers, Dr. Mario, Toki Tori and the two Lost Winds are also very good. I also really liked the first two Phoenix Wrights, but got bored about half way through the third (I will finish it eventually though).

There are two games I would not have bought with hindsight: Art Style: Orbient was a neat concept, but ultimately not much content and I haven't really been back to it since I completed it, and I hated Bomberman Blast, I suspect I probably wouldn't like any Bomberman game though (I haven't played any others), so it might not necessarily be a bad example of Bomberman.

Do you mean the Wii shop won't let you pay by credit card, or you just don't have a compatible card (I don't use credit cards, but I have bought Wii points on my bank debit card... however it wouldn't allow me before my bank added VISA to it.

If it's some kind of weird region thing, you could try chaning the country setting on your console... here in PAL regions for example if you go into the Wii setting menu there is a list of about 40 countries to choose from, but only about 20 allow you to use the shop channel... but those in smaller countries can just set the country to one that works and get access. (assuming they can read the language) I don't know the specifics of the American Wiis, but I suspect you will be able to change country to USA or Canada and access the channel through there. (this is just a guess though, as I can't think why the shop channel wouldn't allow credit cards in a particular country)

The wiishop doesnt let me use any card (debit nor credit) unless the card is issued on the US or Canada. I cannt buy wiipoints either because in my country those cards are very rare and expensive. The wii shop is available in my country, the thing though is that there is no way for me to get points. The eshop is not available at all in my country so I had to set it to the US, but same thing, I can only use cards that are issued on the US or Canada, of which I dont have any. I havent use a virtual gift card though, I should try that now that I think about it....  :V
