Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo WiiU to revolutionalize multiplayer!

this just in, it won't revolutionize multiplayer

just because you're too short sighted to think up new ways to utilise new forms of input doesn't mean that devs are... lets all just hope you don't become a game dev someday... imo it looks like you'd suck

This.

You know what, we can all be ambitious and you have excellent ideas. But no matter how much we ponder, Nintendo had already made clear, somewhat, what they're trying to do. Last E3 was the most confusing presentation because Nintendo was saying how the "U" part of Wii U stood for one person, and how the console is perfect for the playing on the controller BY YOURSELF. Yet they had all these multiplayer games. Nintendo needs to nail online. Also, 4 Wii U controllers please. That's not too much too ask for. U would pay $80 for an extra Wii U controller.

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

It should be interesting to see what Nintendo has in mind ...

With local multi-player, I see the biggest potential advantage in drop-in drop-out multiplayer games (like Lego Starwars) which have beecome very popular this generation, and (potentially) in developing games where a group "plays against" an individual sort of like how an old pen-and paper RPG works.

OP:

Yes it will open up new MP possibilities. Yesterday I was watching the E3 demos and it looks really fun yet very simple and I can’t wait to buy one!

One tablet three Wiimotes, games like tag will work great. One user is infected and needs to tag other users it used to be you could look at the split screen and know exactly where the enemy is. Now the guy with the WiiU controller can sneak up on you, work as a team with the other two player to evade him. This could be used in all kinds of games and genre's from FPS to party games to strategy.

Two WiiU controllers and two Wiimotes, A game like Pikmin would work amazingly well four player with two players having their tablet controllers to move around while the other two can't see their opponents. Team based game play could be escalated and used in amazing ways. This too could apply to almost every genre of multiplayer game.

Two tablets and four Wiimotes, I know Nintendo hasn't talked about this yet but with two tablets whats to say you couldn't play six player local multiplayer? Giving games three on three local play or two on four etc...etc...etc....

I don't know what you are smoking but can you share with us contactto your dealer? ;)

Also by revolutionize did you mean replicating pc gamers lan parties from 1990s ? :D

While what you're describing could certainly be interesting, but I'd hardly call them revolutionary. You're basically describing the last LAN party I was at.

EDIT: Damn it, I was going to be all clever and be the first person to bring up LAN parties. But they're still very much alive Zlejedi.

Everything console gamers call revolutionary is usually just a major market spinoff of PC gaming anyway. Like Wii's pointer controls

So it would be so, for our standards
