PC but I dislike Vista with all my heart, so is a XP/Ubuntu boot for me...

I prefer PC, but vista sucks.

at the moment I just have a windows running laptop, but my ideal setup would be dual OS with OS X and XP, for games and work and then back to OS X for everything else. The design of macs is a big a plus, but generally they have poor graphics cards, but we should wait to see what they announce at MacWorld

Windows may suck in comparison to Mac OSX or Linux, but for compatibility it is unparalleled.

A PC gamer just doesn't have any other options.

 It doesn't matter, because even if Macs get good graphics cards, they jack up the price ridiculously for their new "high graphics" models.

The thing about Macs is that you're often just paying for the Mac image, the style, and you're often paying hundreds of dollars more than you should for comparable performance on a PC.

You need a modern and good computer to run Vista (and even then it's treacle in my experience), and Dell is still selling Pentium 4 machines which were obsoleted the day they were released, so for a person who "just types word [NO BRAND NAMES FOR GENERIC CONCEPTS!] documents, plays games, Writes spreadsheets and surf the net", Linux with Wine is better as it is free, runs on 10 year old hardware with better-than-Vista graphics and runs most older PC games.
