Is there a reason that the 360 saw such a small increase compared to other consoles in UK and Germany? Germany is easier to understand because of 360's popularity relative to the others, but it doesn't really makes sense in the UK. Was there some special deals in that region that only 360 didn't have?

I totally agree with you that the PS3 lost out on an opportunity to pull big numbers. My girlfriends sister works at Radioshack who were supposed to have the PS3 bundle in question but received none. I'm still not sure how that happens when it was advertised for all Radioshacks, but it seems only the really big ones received the bundle and only a few at that. The worst part is many stores are offering the 160Gb for $199 but many don't want it because they feel it's not worth it if it comes with no games. Hopefully that stigma is anecdotal only and wears off quickly. Hopefully Sony can release that bundle or one similar right before Christmas for one more boost

Thanks for the "inside" info. Not only has that bundle a huge value for 199, the games have both casual appeal, and LBP 2 is a great game regardless of the type of gamer you are. IMO that is a perfect bundle for anyone that wants a PS3. But hey, who am I, keep paying these people in charge.

Honestly I heard nothing about sellouts or anything, don't think was a shipment problem. It's fine that you don't care if Sony lost money from those consoles, but it does matter. This is the 5th year already, the time to take a loss for marketshare is done. I just hope they are still at least breaking even on each PS3 at $250, otherwise it is a bit sad.

You are not seeing where I am coming from. I am not defending that this bundle should be available forever and Sony should keep losing money on the PS3.

What I am saying is, that Sony should be aggressive, and understand that BF is the one day of the year, where you put your console in a position to pull big numbers during the biggest month of the year by being aggressive.

Believe me, those 360 numbers are huge, but you know what is more important for MS. They positioned the 360  and Kinect to have a monster December month in USA, and they will ship massive amounts of consoles, because they know the demand is there.

And now, what does Sony do to boost sales in December??? Do they now sell those 199 bundles during a week on US, maybe losing 10x the amount of money they would on BF???

The hype in US is on the 360 and Kinect........ where is the PS3???

The price is not an excuse anymore, Sony just needs to wake up, they are getting owned by a console that has less value then the PS3 (IMO). Props to MS.

Glad to see Anno 2070 doing well (in Germany at least)

no sure Germany's PS3 and Wii up for what(UK is pretty normal up if we look back 19th/12th week)

I am also puzzled by the over 100% and nearly 100% jump for the PS3 in Germany and UK.  Why?  Nothing released. No Black Friday in those countries. Would think the week over week changes would be more gradual through Christmas.

I would say a $50 price cut heading in, plus cutting another $50 and bundling two games is agressive enough. Don't know what you're talking about with regards to hype and shipping, but really I think it came down to consumers saw more better value in the 360 bundles despite Sony's actions. I mean the Wii was essentially selling for under $99 and it couldn't touch 360's numbers.

What Kinect Bundle?  Certainly an old bundle wouldnt be the explanation.  PS3 jumped 103% in Germany with no new releases and no software above 36K compared to the previous week with Assasins Creed at over 72K and MW3 over 58K.. Wii jumped the week after new Zelda release, not the week of new Zelda release.  I assume they must still be getting the data in order. Otherwise doesnt seem right.

EDIT: Looks like they are basing PS3 sales on last year PS3 sales results.  Problem is last year GT5 released this same week (relative).  Last year PS3 went from just over 22K to just under 46K. This year the increase is nearly the same, problem is no GT5 this year. No big release at all this year.

Looks like:

360- 1.2mil
Wii-1mil
PS3-700k

(3DS-1.1mil
Skyward Sword- 1mil FW)

Lots of millions all around!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Where are you seeing the individual countries?
