This is typical Microsoft... I love it! In my opinion, they are able, and have the balls to do some radical things at times.

Kinda reminds me of the Halo 3 trailer during the Superbowl, I'm not entirely sure, but i think that was unprecedented as well.

It's not Microsoft though, it's Nokia.

Sorry mate, i thought Microsoft & Nokia did it together, or at least financed it together, my bad.

Totally awesome, wonder what it was like in person!

Insane.. They're also giving away an Xbox 360 if you purchase the phone! My reaction was like "Wtf" when I heard that!

UK, I saw the advert while watching Big Bang Theory earlier - not sure if I was tripping balls or not, but I think it is. Didn't read the fine print which probably said that the xbox was 4gb :p

Nokia Lumia 800 Windows 7.5 smartphone special offer >> Orange

"Free Xbox 360 when you upgrade, while stocks last". Microsoft's spending its billions on this one all right. Wonder what phone people will upgrade from to this? And how many "unwanted gift" Xbox 360s will suddenly appear on eBay in the next few weeks? (Then again, Christmas is coming. People might keep them for presents.)

That was an amazing video. You can expect that to be just the first of many future ALL BUILDING projection ads. My guess in a few years this will be downtown NY every night!

In the UK it is extremely common for giveaway PS3's, Wii and 360's with mobile phone contracts so this isnt really anything that will stand out too much.  Its actually how I got my PS3.

Indeed, same goes for laptops and TV's but the way that it was marketed.. Way more agressive than I've seen it marketed before and it looks like this time around it's sponsored by MS and Nokia rather than the company taking the loss - usually Carphone Warehouse or e2save or something.

I get that... I just dont think the consumer will see the distinction.  Free stuff is free stuff and the vast majority take phones on contracts anyway to get the phone for "free".

I think they might this time around, although I haven't checked out the contract myself, I got a feeling this one is cheaper than the usual one you get. Carphone Warehouse offer £30 contract for like a really old, 5 year old phone and a free xbox with it - and if you want a better phone it can get into the range of £45-50. But taking into account that nokia is new phone - if it's a contract then it might be in the region of £30-40 for a BRAND NEW PHONE and an Xbox, making it a much better deal than that offered by the retailers.

Wow, I just made me realize how "prestiged" that phone was...

Yay!!!
