I predicted the "LOL Copyzz" from some of the people coming into this thread.

I'd like to remind everybody that the first Smash had 12 characters. And before the first Smash, very few people knew the likes of Captain Falcon or Ness. And then they added new relatively unknown characters like the Ice Climbers, Falco, Marth, Mr. Game & Watch and Roy. These characters became popular because of Smash.

Sony has plenty enough first-party franchises to fill a whole rooster.

I personally hope they'll use many third-party characters (like LIGHTNING!!) but it's not true to say that Sony doesn't have enough iconic characters to make this work.

Neogaf's discussion about the game is a lot more interesting.

They came up with the name ''Playstation Battle Opera''. Pretty awesome. Because Title Fight is pretty awful although it's probably a codename.

and you are absolutely crazy if you think the average consumer knows more than 3-4 max characters in the ninty exclusive line up...and fact of the matter is, for us fans, it just depends on what games we like since we do know a lot of game characters on both systems. for example for me  Jak or Sly or even a Helghan >>>>>>>> almost every ninty exclusive character. I don't blame you for not getting the 'iconic' feel from some of them, but be rest assured for the fans they do exactly that. and also if you are drawing comparisons do it by genre/style of game..not sales. Doubt any buyers would take sales into consideration. for example KZ3 Helghast compared to any decent (if there are any) exclusive fps IPs this gen from ninty.

Ask the average consumer (on any console) whether they know mario /luigi /peach /bowser /yoshi, you already have more than 4 from mario alone, and then there's Link, Pikachu, Kirby, DK... man your reading comprehension skills ......i said if you are gonna compare, don't compare sales in discussing for a game like this...compare a Helghan from a known FPS franchise to a 'FPS' based character in the ninty roster from this gen. I can't think of any.characters from H&S to a characer from a known H&S. Action/adventure/rpg/platforming etc etc. that's how you can see if fans of all genre get something proper from a game like this, especially since these types of games are mainly based on fan service.
