Capcom, Konami, and Namco - to name only three - have larger stables of iconic characters than Sony do.

I think that's the major issue here, not how much each individual series sells, but how iconic they are and how much people actually like them

Even though some of Sony's IP may sell similar to some of Nintendo's lesser ones, They don't have the same iconic feel... Kirby for example >> Some guy from killzone, even though they both sell about the same lately

Examples of good iconic characters might be Kratos, Sackboy, Crash... etc, but I don't think they have enough of these to fill a 30+ character roster

>_> do you like read half of what's there before posting or something? you do realize the main example we talked about was PS Move heroes? how is THAT not a spin off as well? Sony have given smaller studios a chance where there is less risk, same with ninty. I have already explained this

and you are absolutely crazy if you think the average consumer knows more than 3-4 max characters in the ninty exclusive line up...and fact of the matter is, for us fans, it just depends on what games we like since we do know a lot of game characters on both systems. for example for me  Jak or Sly or even a Helghan >>>>>>>> almost every ninty exclusive character. I don't blame you for not getting the 'iconic' feel from some of them, but be rest assured for the fans they do exactly that. and also if you are drawing comparisons do it by genre/style of game..not sales. Doubt any buyers would take sales into consideration. for example KZ3 Helghast compared to any decent (if there are any) exclusive fps IPs this gen from ninty.

@First paragraph: Except that they don't just do it with spin-offs, they do it with their main games as well (I mentioned this in my post, did you even read it? irony -_- ) ...And, is this regarding another post?

@Second: Surely you kid. No? Seriously?? Where are you even getting this? Ask the average consumer (on any console) whether they know mario /luigi /peach /bowser /yoshi, you already have more than 4 from mario alone, and then there's Link, Pikachu, Kirby, DK... I'm not even listing the lesser known characters like Samus, Wario, Zelda...etc. BS assumption is BS

And do you honestly believe that a helgan is more iconic than all of Nintendo IPs? More BS I see... I do think you have a point that Sony fan might view them as iconic more than I would. @last part, that's what I said, I don't think sales matter when talking about how iconic a character is.

The things you post sometimes... It's really hard to take you seriously >_>
