No idea why this question came to mind, but it's here and won't go away.

If you enter a competition where there are 1million entries and there can be 18 possible winners. What is the probablity that you will be 1 of the winners?

For some reason, I am convinced the answer is 1 in 18 not 1 or 18 in a million.

Anyone know the right answer?

18 in a million, number of possible wins divided by total contestants.

For some reason, I'm seeing it as a trick question where the actual answer is 1 in 18, can't explain it.

Sometimes you just have questions where you can't help but second guess yourself.  I lived in a couple different english speaking countries so sometimes I'll keep second guessing myself for spelling something like Crayon or tire.

No, it's not 1 in 18. Just like if there was 1million entries and one winner, that wouldn't mean you have a 1 in 1 chance of winning.

I think I figured out my thought process.

There are 18 possible winners, you only need to win once to be a part of that 18 so, in order to be a part of the winning 18 you just need to take up 1 spot ergo 1 in 18...why the hell did I think that?
