Im mainly Xbox but as this generation went on I wanted to get a PS3 for the exclusives. I bought a PS3 last year but it turned out that I didn't care much for the exclusives and I could have lived without them. I am very happy that I got to play Demon's Souls and God of War 3 was fun. (I think the exclusive games on Xbox 360 are mediocre too expect for Alan Wake).

As for the Wii there's a few exclusive games I'd like to play but I dislike motion controls.

Gears and Halo mediocre? Blasphemy! :D PC player?

Tbh I see his point, in the past exclusives have been kept in my library for the entire duration of the console lifecycle(Fable 1, Halo 2 etc) but this time around I just sold them on, Fable, Reach and Gears 2/3 have really gone down in terms of overall quality, they're still great games and I can see why people would like them, but they're just not as great as they used to be.

We're at the stage now where devs put so much effort into graphics that they pretty much neglect either the story or the gameplay of the games, and I keep seeing that more and more often.

My favourite games are all multiplatforms this time around, and although I liked Reach I thought it was the weakest of Halo's barring the ODST. But 360 is the best for multiplatform games for me personally as I have a lot more friends and the community is broader - so I can still catch dedicated fans playing extremely old games, for teh lulz.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

I am foremost a PC player but in the last few years Ive put just as much hours on console gaming and I even play multiplats such as Bioshock, Creed, Fallout and now Skyrim mainly on console (Skyrim PC later when I have a better comp). I have nothing against shooters on consoles and nowadays I even have adapted well to console controls in shooters. Historically Ive always loved shooters but Halo and Gears have never engaged me. I dont know why. Maybe because I tend to dislike most linear games and Im not easily impressed by "high production values".

Nah. PS3 exclusives don't have a soul. They lack something intangible that 360 exclusives seem to have :)

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Just if its really cheap. Otherwise I would save money for the buying the next console day one with several launch titles

no, purely because the PS3 has so many games now that i need to get around to playing.. i can't take on another system too!

When I had a NES I was a 5/10 Nintendo fanboy

When I had a Megadrive I was a 6/10 Sega fanboy

When I had a PSOne I was a 8/10 Sony fanboy

When I had a PS2 I was a 9/10 Sony fanboy

When I had a Gamecube I was a 10/10 Nintendo fanboy

When I had a Xbox I was a 4/10 MS fanboy

When I had a Wii I was a 9/10 Nintendo fanboy

When I had a PS3 I was a 9/10 Sony fanboy

When I had a X360 I was a 7/10 MS fanboy

Wait, what was my point again... Oh yeah - being a fanboy is a fickle thing. It's not real. You 'die hard' fanboys will just as easily love the other consoles (except maybe Rol).

Also, you can be a fanboy of more than 1 console.

Right now I'm playing zero Nintendo games, but the Gamecube was just the greatest thing ever to me.

So (OT) yeah, I have done what the OP asks. Specifically, I did it when I bought the Xbox at the end of its life cycle. I played Halo,Halo2,Forza,Fable etc. etc. just to respect the console somewhat. And I have to say that Chronicles of Riddick looked WAAAAY too good for a last gen game

No need, I already have all consoles because I think that, as a true gamer, it's important to have that variety. I realize not everyone has the money for more than one console (seriously, in these times it's a pretty silly thing to expect), but if you don't there will always be regret.

Besides, every system has GREAT games, and if you chose to ignore that becuase you're too closeminded to give them a chance (perhaps you hate sony), then the only one missing out is you.

I love my PS3 the most, but some of my all time favorite games are on the Wii, and the 360 has a ton of features and games that make it worth having, especially considering I love the controller.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

i have a ps3 and i will never get an xbox. its not that im a huge ps3 fanboy but i just never understood the hype of games like gears of war and halo. its basically the only exclusives that sell well (scratch that they are the ONLY exclusives that sell well). and also i dont like paying for online. why pay for something i can get for free? if you cry about ps3 having a terrible connection and w.e, then you must have a shitty internet provider.

I already own 2 360 and one PS3 and also a Wii... I'm a fanboy of Nintendo since 1987 but this gen my fav console is 360. I bought PS3 at first to play with friends online who only owned a PS3, but now i'm enjoying GT5 and will buy UC3 when I'm done with Skyrim.

I think if M$ had the Live free they would have performed far better in Europe, that's stupid to kill your competitiveness to earn a few million dollars... there's also the BRD but I don't care about it, that's far too expensive to buy BRD movies...
