I own a 42" Vizio LCD HD TV and some 3rd party component cables I got back when the Wii launched.

So do I need to get Nintendo's Offical Component cables to fix the issue?  Then do I need to make sharpness 0 or any other changes as well?  Or does my TV just suck at upscaling?

You may just have to deal with it as it is. The Wii only does 480p. Your TV is doint the best it can with what it has but I don't think it's gonna look any better. If anything, you may want to use an SDTV or maybe even turn the "sharpness" down. It'll look great on an old TV but shitty on a good TV.

I hope (thouth I've heard otherwise) that the Wii U upscales Wii games like the PS2, PS3, and Xbox did with their predecessors.

Well, from my experience, thew cables do have a small part of the problem, it may get slightly better, but do not expect anything radical.

Also, you should try to grow on them, because even if Wii does look great on a SD TV, it is because it is smaller.

Here's what skyward sword could look like if it was in 1080p. If you have a good enough computer you can do this too. It's what I'm going to try to do.

You just made me realize that SS's style is so strong 1080p isn't as notorious as 1080 in Galaxy, or Twilight Princess.

I have the same problem and it was relly bad in the beginning of the game.

After a while you stop noticing. However, I also find it rather annoying.

What I've done in the past was set the game for widescreen and set the TV for standard aspect ratio (or something like that). Something about compressing that exppanded image makes Wii games look better. Worth a shot, eh?

Maybe that is why I've never had any sort of problem
