But wouldn't launching a year later make the consoles more powerful due to the technology advancements and component price reductions that take course over the year?

It all depends on how tired Sony and MS are of losing billions of dollars on hardware for the first few years.

This a million times over. MS I can possibly see doing it as they love to just throw money at things. Hoping they can squeeze Sony out of the market maybe. However even then I would question their sanity.

If Sony go for another mega-powerful console? I would put in a request that their entire management be sectioned. As a whole the company is losing money insanely fast. The PS3 was an utter disaster for profits and the Vita is currently in VERY bad shape. If they went with a very powerful console they had to take a loss on it would be madness. Just take that extra year and the reduction in costs it brings to parts and bring out a moderate upgrade power wise to the Wii U.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

How likely is it that these specs hold true? I have a very hard time wrapping my head around the idea of Nintendo's Wii U being comparatively specced against the Xbox Durango and PS4. It has a more costly controller, is coming out a year earlier, and is launching at a competitive price. By all means the PS4 and Xbox Durango SHOULD be substantially more powerful... By the simple logic spinning in my head.

Can you share more enlightenment on your views?

Wii is the first home console where Nintendo was the least powerful system. (NES/SNES/N64/GC were all more powerful than what was currently on the market.)

You have no clue what controllers will be with Durango/PS4. New Kinect version or copy of tablet... you just don't know.

You have no clue what prices they will launch at.

There is no 'logic' that would dictate they would be more powerful than Wii U let alone "substantially" more powerful.

The rumors all point to three systems with comparable specs and probaby comparable prices launching within a year of each other.

But the Famicom/NES was weeker then the SEGA MKIII/Master System.

"that what was currently on the market", Master System came out after NES.

Compared to SG-1000, NES was greater, compared to Master System... NES was weaker.

yes my bad I forgot you ment in 1983 like PS1 and PS2 were most powerfull in 1994 and 2000 respectively.

That APU is fine, it can easily be modified to be faster and the extra GPU will be a little helpful.

I would like an upgraded GPU though, a 7670 seems way too weak. If they're going with amd a 7850 would be great.

Maybe. But from the rumors we have now.... neXtBox will probably be stronger while PS4 might not be. However, it doesn't guarantee it (Wii was less than 360) and there is far more logic to state they will all be really similar.

It probably won't matter for the first three years, at least with 3rd party multiplat games. They will probably make the game work for the weakest system and port to the others.

Good luck with that turd of an APU that already has a TDP of 100W at 2.9GHz.

It is really quite simple. 4-5 years ago, the three manufacturers had to decide on their design choices. Nintendo and MS went with IBM's Power line (which for MS was a logical choice). Sony was in the worst position of the lot. They had their proprietary solution which ran against a wall with their co-developers. So what to do? Around that time, AMD came along and hyped their new processor technology as the best there could ever be. The demonstrations (on paper) must have been convincing, so at Sonys development circle they believed the hype train (if we are to believe the rumoured specs) - and the catastrophy started rolling: Three years later now we see how AMD's 8core wonder design processor barely keeps pace with Intel's 4core processors, with larger dies, larger TDP and pretty much everything worse than Intel (or an IBM Power processor) can do on the processor side of things. Even a pruced-up original cell could beat the A8 hands down. Now there must be some very unhappy engineers in the PS4 development group. Their choice of processor - again if we are to believe the rumoured specs - is vastly, and I mean really vastly, inferior to the competitors, and they are the last in the NextGen cycle. I wish them good luck, coming last with inferior specs into a race (of now three competitors) fighting essentially for the same console customers.

Ok.

I updated the tables, especially the GPU tables. Far better comparisons and a better idea of what we may see next week. :)

I'd still place the power order, based on available stock data, with XB3>WiiU>PS4... however, the differences between the three should be more similar to PS2/GC/XB generation and thus not a real big difference in what is offered by 3rd parties.

I think in the end Sony may walk away from the Fusion chip. Sony is not stupid and will be watching what its competition is doing. Considering that it is not launching first in the generation, I'd bet it will want to push the hardware a little more to be closer to the perceived neXtBox level.

The best use of an asymmetric dual GPU set up is to offload A.I. and physics to the weaker GPU. In this case, the APU which would actually work pretty well. But I'm not too sure how the game engines not written to specifically take advantage of the asymmetrical set up will handle things.

Updated the GPU info...

How likely do you think Sony would be to have the APU plus the additional 7000 series card? I'm thinking its unlikely due to heat and costs.

I was under the impression that Sony was doing an APU and GPU. If they are only doing the APU they'd be bringing knife to a gun fight.

Chunky: Do you really believe that WiiU will be ore powerful than NextBox?? All the rumors I see seem to say other wise...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
