Good luck with that turd of an APU that already has a TDP of 100W at 2.9GHz.
It is really quite simple. 4-5 years ago, the three manufacturers had to decide on their design choices. Nintendo and MS went with IBM's Power line (which for MS was a logical choice). Sony was in the worst position of the lot. They had their proprietary solution which ran against a wall with their co-developers. So what to do? Around that time, AMD came along and hyped their new processor technology as the best there could ever be. The demonstrations (on paper) must have been convincing, so at Sonys development circle they believed the hype train (if we are to believe the rumoured specs) - and the catastrophy started rolling: Three years later now we see how AMD's 8core wonder design processor barely keeps pace with Intel's 4core processors, with larger dies, larger TDP and pretty much everything worse than Intel (or an IBM Power processor) can do on the processor side of things. Even a pruced-up original cell could beat the A8 hands down. Now there must be some very unhappy engineers in the PS4 development group. Their choice of processor - again if we are to believe the rumoured specs - is vastly, and I mean really vastly, inferior to the competitors, and they are the last in the NextGen cycle. I wish them good luck, coming last with inferior specs into a race (of now three competitors) fighting essentially for the same console customers.
